I've heard some new diffs are worse than the one they replaced! Just the luck of the draw if you get a better one or worse ha Mine is pretty loud so i'd be willing to throw a new one in, but the local dealer does not want to do that.

Oh I've been in contact quite a bit with corporate haha They are wanting me to take my truck in for the 3rd time for the howl. I've talked to the shop manager and we are both on the same page about it. He knows I have the exact same problem as what the TSB addresses. Like me, he is hoping they release a TSB for the rest of the 2016-2017s and then move on to the 2018s like mine. For now him and I can't really do anything. My case manager thinks something can be done, but the TSB is not for my vehicle. Just doesn't work that way unfortunately.

I'd take that as a win in my book! Now that I think of it mine peaks around 55-56mph or so. Sounds like if I was to pay to have the TSB done I'd be in the same boat. I may just go for it.

If yours is/was like mine you’ll be happy with the results, I can almost guarantee it. When I say that I can still hear it, I mean that it is super faint, and I have the radio off completely. Honestly if I wasn’t trying to listen for it I don’t think I would pay it any attention anymore.

Thanks, my friend. That makes me feel better. My 10K service will be due soon so I’ll get the ball rolling and call my corporate contact (I’ve got a corporate case like everyone else) to see if they can get the parts in and do it all at the same time. My new Yukon XL also has a very faint howl if you listen very closely. I’m as picky as they come but if I have to strain my ears to hear it (and my hearing is not what it used to be) then I’m not making an issue out of it.

Unfortunately no Toyota here, been in this with the rest of you, since page 1 of this beast of a thread! I’m just happy they have finally addressed the issue, and satisfied with the results..... so far.

Curious do you have " yoke slip" where you can feel a clunk on deceleration? Reason I ask just trying to figure out if our vehicles are having similar symptoms with the whine.

Just dropped my truck off for the howl. They put me in a rental while they diagnose it again and order/install parts.

    :fingerscrossed:

Hopefull that this will be the end of it and I can fully enjoy the truck even at cruising speeds.

Yup because it’s bothering me when I started noticing it . Seems to be getting louder as time goes by lol. It wasn’t there before . Outside pillows and thick blankets made the howling less noticeable . Now the pillows and comforter are back where they belong lol

Heh, I have the back of my AC loaded with pillows and a blanket too. I hope they figure out a fix for the AC soon.

I'm jealous! My case manager cut me loose because the howl is considered normal for my 2018 SR5. It is what it is ha
