I have had both. My first Tacoma was a 2010 TRD Sport and now I have a 2017 TRD OR. Both are great, however there were places that my buddies could go with their 4X4 that I couldn't go. That's why I got the OR. With the OR you can do everything the Sport can do but not the other way around. If you like the looks of the Sport I will get the Sport in 4X4. It all depends on your needs.

I do like posting pictures, but also don't feed my opinion of how HUGE the thing is, when it simply is not. Observe the hugeness attached...don't get sucked into the giant black blue hole that sucks all mass into it.

And, yes, that would be approximately my driving position, as I am a tall one.

Yeah u can. But.... what is the cost and work involved in order to do so? I’m sure very invasive and expensive. I say get the Toyota one and u can then have it covered under warranty if it’s new. Also not sure about the specific configuration cab/tranny u r looking for, but if u want a manual def get it. I have the manual and love it.

Also, I have had 3 Tacos. One was a 2nd gen auto (smashed a deer) and a 2nd gen sport dcsb manual and I absolutely hated the scoop. Looked cool until the sun was shining and it blinded the shit out of me. Glad I bought an OR this time for sure. Never looking back.

Didn’t realize they removed that on 3rd Gen. Maybe I should stick to the 2nd gen questions. :)

Unobstructed, especially when pulling up to something.

Didn't do the scoop any justice IMO. Actually looks bad from inside the cab. Still want one.

Are you serious? You're talking about MAYBE an inch of obstruction IF that. You can still clearly see down to the front of the hood directly in front of you...

Obstructed view... don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.

If the scoop was a legit danger, you can be sure some idiot would post on here how his scoop caused him an accident.

Never said it was a danger, just an annoyance so why pay for it instead of getting a better brake booster, better shocks, bigger rear end and a locker for the same money.

Fuck it, you guys are happy with it, enjoy it.

If you're looking for a more comfortable ride, get the OR. Its much... less stiff.

I don't mod and I don't go off road, so I picked the Sport for a) cosmetics and b) only available trucks in MT were DCSB OR and ACLB Sport... I don't need a double cab.

Not a locker though even though you paid locker money.

If you do any off-roading at all, or plan to, get the OR. The hood scoop and color matched fender flares are not worth missing out on the rear locker for. But, if you only wheel on the street, it may not matter to you then.

Yeah but you know now you're second guessing your purchase on if your truck is really "good enough"

My rationale is living rent free in your head now and you're fighting it with pithy comebacks about how "funny" I am.

That's ok. As long as you're happy.

Some of you fellas are getting a little too offended that some of us fellas don’t like your skewps. Enjoy your shit, but for me and a few others, yeah man, that scoop is obstructive. Maybe not regular driving on a road obstructive... which is why there are no emergency threads on its danger, but off road and going uphill, that thing is in the fucking way. Even in this pic, not uphill, that secondary hump takes up 6 inches of real world pavement, and off road, I may be trying to negotiate a line and the close I got to it, the less I see.

This thread is for general advice and input on sport vs OR, but you are turning it into a platform to rant against the scoop and sport.

And bro, this is the internet, I never let people affect me on here:rofl:

    I drove both.
The color of the fender flares didn't matter as I was looking at a black one ;-)

I decided on the sport, and then swapped OR shocks and springs onto it. If I decide to do any off-roading worthy of a locker I'd be adding an ARB anyhow.

Really it comes down to what YOU want to drive, I couldn't be happier with mine.

Funny, I've had my PRO about a month now and the only time I notice the s'coupe is from the outside and feeling thrilled how badass it looks. Honestly, from the driver's seat, hasn't bothered me a bit. I sit pretty tall and upright though. Maybe on a tricky trail I'll feel differently but damn, it just looks really good to me.
