Some of the OR guys sound oddly envious.

Anybody look and see how many bugs they catch with a scoop?

Might be extra cool if you had a pet lizard.

I would respectfully point out some of you OR guys think a rear locker and crawl control adds inches to your dick.

A lot. Kind of a bitch to wash too.

But my hood was never recalled for poor bonding!

I doubt it. It would have been whatever was available on the lot at the time.

Right?! Seriously. The OR guys swear they actually OR:rofl:

I wouldn’t know. Im in the SR 4x4 manual club. We have to put our lockers in our 8.75 rears. No big deal.

Some people can come off like they are being a dick, it’s the internet. I’m trying to express that if you’re like me, that scoop is in the way when off roading. That’s all. Not shitting on anyone’s purchase here.

What actually adds the inches to my dick is that I actually do the work locker wise. And suspension. And fabrication. And off roading. And this is my umpteenth Tacoma, not meandering over from a Jetta. That’s why I’m always so dizzy.

I wonder which is better at pulling a 5000 pound trailer. Sport vs OR.

There is a difference between a recall (safety) and a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin). Hood was never recalled. Just thought you should know that  and your vehicle probably has a few TSB's you need tending to as well.

Ah! Apologies on the assumption you had the OR.

Like I said, we're talking about maybe an inch higher. It's not like a 72 Roadrunner... or a 93 Peterbuilt. If we REALLY want to stir some shit we could say the 3rd gen OR hood is obstructive compared to the 2nd gen OR hood, because all 3rd gen hoods sit higher (look at the cowling.)

But also remember the guys buying the Sports aren't going to take their trucks off road. Mine is a pavement pony and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Pardon me, my hood never had a TSB for poor bonding.

It does not. I have them check at every service.

It’s all good, I wasn’t offended, just didn’t want you or anyone else to think I was bashing their purchase maliciously.

My experience was test driving a pro, and I would have taken that off road, people expect to be able to take it off road. I noticed that from the side, the scoop is barely there. From the front, it’s there...but when I’m IN the cab, it’s out of control. And ESPECIALLY in this gen, with the hood so imposing, that scoop and I will not get along on an incline, off road, where I need to see obstacles. This is why I would opt out of it.

    You'll knock your fillings loose!

Or are you the guy that used an OR suspension?

Not ranting just suggesting it might not be the best choice as far as product for your dollar.

If it was cheaper than the OR I'd be all for it as the choice for street queens that like to venture offroad. Since they made it the same price as the OR, people that bought them for the scoop mostly got got flash for their cash.

No worries, you like what you got for your money, I like what I got.

Let us know how that added locker goes and how much it costs and how invasive it is. That’s y I refused to fall in the “get a sport and just add on a locker”.... Sounds great until u start trying to actually do it. Tried it with my 2nd gen and it wasn’t worth the time, money, or hassle. Either way it’s still a good truck, but please don’t think it is as easy as it’s described by others.

No, although I would consider picking up an OR suspension for cheap. Plan to upgrade the suspension eventually.

I think you went well beyond "suggesting," but hey, all in good fun. You are making a lot of assumptions about why people bought the truck they bought. And you are still trying to be sly with your "street queen" comment. As I said before, for me the manual transmission with a full bed was more important than the locker. That is all.

The Sport is more stiff. Won't squat as much I would think.

No worries. Not offended, I just think it’s humorous (on both sides of the argument). My little garage princess looks better IMO with the skewp, painted wheel flares & bumper caps.
On a more off road “useful” level, the OR would obviously be the way to go (but this guy would be in the market for a sport hood...lol). But my intentions for my truck are more for daily driver, until summertime then I can get back on 2 wheels!
I guess that’s why the folks at Toyota made the different levels though, huh? Because if we all had the same looking trucks off the lot, we’d be in Ridgeline’s... and nobody wants that!
