I noticed it today on mine. It seems to happen under gradual acceleration. In city driving.

Happens on my truck almost right at 2500 rpm.

Hum, wonder what might be causing this.

I hope to have mine flashed ASAP (I get my kit today) and I can offer some feedback as well. My truck is a 16

Yea it’s kinda weird. Im guessing mat just needs to tweak something. I dont notice it cruising, only while accelerating and only in like 2nd and 3rd gear.

It's the worst on mine in the 2000-3000rpm band. On my way home today, I was accelerating up a long hill on the highway in 4th and the truck was stuttering a lot. Not really deep into the throttle either. I'm currently running the 87 tune, because I thought it might have been a fuel issue causing the stutter while on the 91 file. Nope, they both do it.
For shits n giggles I went out for another trip and this time logged the results. Weird thing was, at the time index where I re-created the stutter I did not see any misfires (using OBD fusion and monitoring the Toyota PID all cylinders misfire count).

Other than this issue, the tune is fantastic. Man, so close...

Wonder why this issue would surface all of a sudden.

Likely because we are now starting to drive a little more reasonable instead of just driving like a bunch of crazies with all this new power on test drives.

    This is probably exactly it.

I did already plan to put up another small review after a week or so with some more thoughts once my driving style has adjusted more and with anything I/we may have noticed.

For now I'm still convinced that I was either imagining it or it was perhaps related to my driving off immediately after starting the truck, before it had warmed up, but I'll mention it even if I can't replicate it myself again .This many people bringing it up means something is there most likely .

May be from another issue. I've seen this when water is present in the fuel. If the problem returns reload the stock tune and see if the problem goes away.

One thing i really miss about my 2005 is no matter what fuel i put in, the truck always performed the same and fuel economy was consistent no matter what you did. The third gen is a princess and believes it should only have the best fuel. If you dont, it’ll either have weird issues or crap mpg or both. Mine is always unhappy in South Dakota.

Got my kit and sent dongle serial number to @OVTune 5 minutes ago. Hope to have the activation key soon and I'll be tuned!

I've had hesitations or stutters since day one with my truck.
On the stock tune (which I will never allow back into my ECU unless absolutely necessary), they were really only noticeable if you were loading the engine on a long steady grade at lower rpms (~1500 - 1800). They could be lessened somewhat with premium E0 fuel.
Every tune version I've run since has given me stutters to a varying degree, but they were far less noticeable than with 1.03B 91 and 87 in the rpm range specified (2000-3000). I'm thinking @Shellshock is right, I for one was enjoying the extra power - but as the mundane daily drive becomes routine again, you begin to hone in on things you maybe didn't see or didn't want to see.
I'm not discounting your theory outright @Ruggybuggy , it's just that I went from running 1.03 04B10 test tune to 1.03B on the same tank. Now my stutters are noticeably worse.

Edit: I know I said in an earlier post that I switched to the 87 file to eliminate a possible fuel issue - my thinking on that was centered around the fact that previous tunes for my ECU didn't respond well to ignition mapping changes, and 1.03B is supposed to have major changes to ignition. SInce an 87 tune SHOULD be far less aggressive in that area, I thought I'd go that route and see if anything changed. TL;DR - shitty 91 fuel that's not quite 91 should work ok on 87 file.

1200-2500 rpm, low throttle... this sounds like when the engine is in atkinson

does this relate to roughness and/or stuttering? particularly when cold?

very likely, but something also important to know is that the ECU uses different mapping depending on the engine temperature for a lot of things, and when it's cold is when it performs the worst.

that is fully evident over here, and i think many who have already reported would agree 100% with that. it's hard to control when cold and with ice, which has been the last 2-3 days.
