She's rusty, crusty, and graffiti painted. Dropped an intake valve seat on the number 2 cylinder and needs an engine rebuild. PO said it was a fresh rebuild, but after tearing into the engine, that's obviously not the case  Always taking someone's word with a grain of salt.

I should have a few pics on my phone.

Sure was fun while she lasted, I'll say that much. These buses are just money pits! :spending:

No doubt. It's expo worthy for sure. After you mentioned OB I noticed the badge on the front quarter lol

Between vintage restos and #vanlife, type 2s are hot now. Used to just be VW enthusiast thing. Now they're the posterchild for Pintrest and Instagram.

Man the insta vanlife is running rampant. They sure don't show the tough parts of owning a bus.

Is it illegal in Texas to drive without headlights and (probably not) a bumper equipped?
A google search came up dry. Basically need to transport the truck from the collision center to home tomorrow for about 3-5 miles. Knowing my luck I don't want to get pulled over so seeing if I need to tow it or not.

I had a science teacher in high school that drove a '69 single cab. Always loved that thing. Didn't happen often but I tried to park my bug next to his whenever I got the chance.

At day time I wouldn't see an issue with it. Could always explain your situation.

I think you'd be ok. As long as you're not driving at night. I don't think there are any laws regarding bumpers. It's not far anyway and I'd expect that if you did get pulled over a simple explanation would suffice.

What about front turn signals as they are integrated in my headlights?
I know rears are a must and I didn't expect there to be anything on front bumpers either.

Any way to take the wiring harness and ziptie it up for the trip?

Conviently the bulbs have enough length to stick out. I don't think there are any definitive laws on front signals, just wanted to be sure.

So the consensus is to just drive it the 5-10 mins home?
