    It did rub a little on the back on the plastic on the back of the fog light housing but only at a full turn or in reverse I cut it out and now there's no rubbing even in revers

    man you do anything you want- On my 80' toyota with a 20R engine, 4.10 gears and 36" Dick Cepek tires- 5 speed. 5th gear was useless except for down hill grades- ran the freeway of San Diego rowing between 3 & 4th gears- still climb the hills off road just used 4lo all the time. Fun times. It may help some to realize that trucks used to come with 3 speed transmissions or 4 speeds with a granny low- just started out in 2nd gear when cruising around town. Sooo if you lose the use of 5th gear its no big deal- if you like it run it! if not downsize tires or regear.

    I was hoping to hear something like this! I figured the 5spd would be alright with 285s. As it stands, because of all the added weight, 5th gear is already just about useless since i live in the hill country. Ive been driving the truck as a 4spd lately anyways because 5th is useless unless im running 80-85 on the highway.

    IMG_3668.jpg LT285/70/17 procomps on SCS brushed bronze. Not my ideal tire, but they still have good tread and I will wear them out before I spend $800-$1000 on new ones. Toyo's MT or Nitto Terra MT in the future
