@Adude there are 2 people retiring from my shop in April. We are trying to get the hiring process start early but it is difficult. Be on the lookout for the job posting.

It's because many people don't want a 3rd Gen or got one and returned it for a 2nd Gen. The '14 and '15 models became much more desirable after the 3rd Gen came out. I got a brand new 3rd Gen for work and hated it. Drove it for a couple weeks before talking to the boss about it. He drove it for a few days before he promptly traded it in for something else. Maybe it was just the one truck, but everyone at my company that drove the truck, absolutely hated it. Transmission feel, interior feel etc. Given the choice, I'd go 2nd Gen over 3rd any day. Just my $.02

I don’t think that’s why 2nd Gens are high priced but ok.

First time I've heard someone say they liked the interior on the 2nd gen more.

I wonder if over time we will see the 16-17 models have more value over the 18+ models. Personally, I have no desire for security features and think the EyeSight in the Subaru's is downright dangerous and should be recalled but I have no experience with the Toyota equivalent.

If someone needs features like braking assistance, lane sway, etc. they really shouldn't be driving at all.

I just got a loaner semi, cause I broke mine. The loaner has one of those stupid automated tranny's and adaptive cruise, which includes braking assistance. I hate it.

It gets triggered by the car taking the exit.
It gets triggered by the car in the lane next to you.
It gets triggered by street signs, if they're low enough.

    I hate it.

I'll keep those that are interested posted, once it's for sure. In the process of making sure I have the required amount of ATF and filter kit for the swap.

Also doing some last minute research to convince myself 1 of 2 things.
    1: This will be a $1000 mistake
    or
    2: It all goes well.

What year was the 3rd gen you had? The 16s had a TSB that was eventually released that fixed shifting issues and some came from the factory with low auto transmission oil. Truck has like 40 more hp than a 2nd gen with only 1 less ft/lb of torque.

Interior feel is light years beyond the 2nd gen. 2nd gen feels like a 2008 camry interior even for a 14-15.

Yeah, its one of the lowest points on the truck.

I'm not bashing on the 2nd gen, I'm just saying that it is what it is. While it is pretty dependable, the platform was long in tooth and the 3rd gen, while has a few new release bugs is definitely a worthy upgrade.

I ordered a Relentless Predator front bumper today. Square cutouts for Rigid D2 or Baja Design lights. Cutout for a Baja 20 inch light bar. I had never planned on a light bar in front but maybe I will now because I'm going to do DOT/SAE lights in the square cutouts. The nice lady on the phone says they're faster than the 6 month lead people experienced before. But no worries either way. I purchased another toy to keep me busy until bumper time :spy:
