    Longtime reader, first-time post.

Always amazed at the wealth of info circulating throughout the forums. That said, I thought I would pose my question:

I am in the market for a preowned truck. Right now, I have boiled it down to two trucks: 2015 Tacoma TRD PRO (Inferno) in AT going for $32500, and 2017 Tacoma TRD OR in MT for $31800. I am leaning towards the 2017 due to it being manual but been reading about all the bad things coming from the 3.5L V6 so haven't pulled the trigger just yet. I don't have much experience with 2nd gens, much less 3rd gens.

Can ya'll help with pointing out pro's and cons for each? Thanks for any input.

Test drive test drive test drive. Both have their pros. The 2017 has cons though. I didn’t like the motor. But that doesn’t mean you won’t. Either way it’s a win win man. Great trucks either way!

@scottalot Mile on 2015 is 19k, mileage on 2017 is 10k. Also, is price reasonable?

@Tripod Thanks but I am set on these two.

    Welcome!

    I say 2015.

2nd Gen is the best Gen.

Also, 2015 was the only year they offered a Pro in the 2nd gen, so they are pretty rare. I think it will hold value better than other models, which are already the king of resale.

They both sound really nice. Do you like dated, but tried, tested and true? 2015

Do you want more gadgets/tech and a modern interior? 2017

Can't go wrong with either one. Auto in 2015 is a rock and the Manual 2017 is solid.

Just out of curiosity, what made you decide to lease?

    Several different reasons.
    1. The monthly payment was going to be cheaper.
    2. Peace of mind to know that I wasn't stuck with it if I didn't like it. I knew that after 3 years I can hand in the keys and be done with it. Good luck selling a three year old vehicle and not losing big.
    3. I just got a new Harley in 2016. Bought it. The very next year, the new Milwaukee 8 motor came out. There will always be a new and fresher vehicle. Leasing allows me a new vehicle every 3 years IF I decide to trade it in or buy it.
    4. I just thought it made more sense given the fact that I did not research the 3rd gen at all. I based getting this one on how good my 1st Gen is and also my woman broke her end of the deal allowing me a new truck. Lease gives me an out if needed.
