At the same time a second rock, or what ever it was hit behind the drivers door window. I didn’t realize that it was just a black sticker there convering the paint. Now I’m missing a small piece of it. Forgot to grab a photo tho

    that's whay i did.
I didn't trust plastidip at the time, so I did 3 or 4 coats of black and 2 coats of clear paint.

@RobP62 i took them off after masking around them(to mark where to reinstall) with fishing line and a blow dryer. It only takes about 10 mins to get them all off and my adhesive actually stayed on the door and tailgate in almost prefect shape. I decided to not reuse the old and added a strip of 3m to the back and cut it out around the letters for a good seal. To reapply i heated the spot i had taped off until warm to the touch. pressed them on and held for 30 seconds the removed the tape opened a beer and enjoyed the fruits of my labor lol

Ok, whew, had me there for a minute. LOL

Yea, I definitely like this look more. I did my grill in plastidip (my first time) and it came out great. So I have to wonder now how the matt and gloss will look together or if I'm just being stupid about it.

Before I did the grill I watched a shit load of dip vids. I was amazed how easy it was. Thing is, it's time consuming, the weather has to cooperate, and it can peel off easier than paint. Especially if you have a nick and then hit with a pressure washer.

My grill is temporary until I can get my hands on a @HomerTaco creation. His are powder coated stainless mesh.

I removed the 4X emblem on the tailgate just to see how easy it was. Phhht, nothing to it. So I might just do this. And maybe instead of gloss, go with a satin.

I can remove them in the rain and paint them in my garage if I had to.

    Nice job again man!

Just a guide to know where to go back. I used fishing line to take off before painting.

Hey Rob. Didn’t know if you knew or not, if you decide to redo your grille the plasti dip is easily removable. I plasti dipped my grille before I bought the EAG. I took it off in about 30 min to get back to the chrome look.
All I did was spray the entire grille down with WD-40 and Goo Gone. Let it soak for like 10 min. Then I hit it with a pressure washer and WAH-LA! As good as new. The plasti dip just peeled off like butter with the pressure washer!

I plasti-dipped my grill and used satin black paint on the badges. I have no problem with them being different finishes. I thought the same way as you as far as being different, but they look good.

As for the nick/pressure washer...yeah. That just happened to me recently. I'm looking into painting the grille or doing truck bed liner. I'm testing the truck bed liner on a smaller project and might get brave and do the grill also. First I have to peel all the plasti-dip off. Looks like I'll be doing a netflix marathon with a Tacoma grille in my lap...lol.
    :annoyed:

I don't think I'll get the pro grill. This shape (brace face) is fine...as long as it's not chrome.

I'll update everyone if I go with the liner on the grille.
