Edit to say I got it figured out. I had to do an update on the thinkware cloud firmware then it hooked right up with no issue.

Well insurance won't budge on my car accident. Even though I pointed out it was icy and you can see the traction control light blinking in the video they said they don't know if there really is ice. The guy wouldn't watch the video with sound, even though multiple times I said the sound was important because you can hear me braking from my tires slowing down, and when I slam on the brakes, to when i start saying "ooooohh shiiiit" a whole 2 seconds before the crash because I was sliding on ice. He kept insisting they have no way of knowing how fast I reacted, even though I kept telling him yes you can if you watch with sound.

They basically said even though I only had 2 seconds from the time she changed lanes to the time she slammed on her brakes, I am still responsible to have a safe space between us. I pointed out how can I create a safe space between us when I only had 2 seconds from the time she started her lane change to slamming on her brakes, and he said I should have been going slower then if I can't create a safe space within 2 seconds. I was going slower than all the other traffic, about 25 in a 55 during rush hour.

So i guess for now on whenever someone changes lanes in front of me I must immediately slam on my brakes and risk causing a traffic shockwave behind me because every single person could come in front of me and slam on their brakes and make me responsible.

for the record, no she didn't cut me off, there was about 2 or so car lengths between us, but my lane was passing her, i couldn't have predicted she was going to change lanes literally 3 feet from the car in front of me I figured she would have waited for the center of the opening at least. he kept insisting it was a safe lane change. i pointed out its against state law to tailgate, and changing lanes while tailgating is an unsafe lane change. he said her lane change was safe because she didn't hit the car in front of her. I said so if I drive 100 mph down the freeway I'm driving safe as long as I don't crash? he had nothing to say to that. part of the problem is dash cams, especially very wide angle ones, make stuff look further away, especially since the cam is a few feet infront of your own eyes too so it makes it look worse on my end.

I have a high $2000 deductible for the dumbest reason too. I put that on my 2017 tacoma because its a pretty expensive truck (fully loaded trd off road), the savings over time is worth it to me. I got money saved too so I can afford the hit if it happens. when i bought my prius a few weeks ago and added it to my insurance I asked if that just gets the same deductible and they said yes. I never would have put a $2000 deductible on a $6000 car so I fucked myself not realizing I could have two separate deductibles. I have never owned a second car before so I assumed when they said its the same deductible that it was one plan that covers both.

not gonna upload the video, I feel too defeated I don't want to share it. majority of people who saw it agreed I did everything I could but it just wasn't enough time to react but insurance doesn't care. the person i hit has the same insurance company so they have no real reason to fight for me.

    soooo FML.

That really stinks man. Sorry it worked out that way. Too bad some people wanna bend the rules to fit their situation. An unsafe lane change can cause an accident, and it did. I wonder if your insurance companies were different if they would have fought more for you?

i was wondering the same thing. either way i am changing insurance companies. state farm seems more expensive than several others. I got a quote tonight and even said I was just in a at fault accident and I am going to be saving at least $20 a month on my pre-accident state farm rates. might pay a year up front too to save even more.

Fuck State Farm, they are some slimy assholes (like most insurance companies). Use Amica if available to you.

I know everyone says they'd get an attorney, but....Sometimes just having an attorney contact them can change their tune. They would rather not deal with all the hassles involved in that. Worth a shot anyway and would cost very little, or maybe zilch if you know one.

Yeah true, they might even deem it 50/50 which still isn't a win, but better than counting you 100% at fault. State farm did this to my wife one time when she got backed into in a parking lot and then the lady lied. They did 50% liability on each of em. (Would have been good to have a dash cam that day.)

Massdrop has the Blackvue DR750s 2 channel for $275 (vs 399 at Amazon). Link here

Now I have 4 days to decide if I'm going to get this or wait to get the kenwood dash cam when I get a new HU, and a cheap one for the rear.

Separate dash cams for front/rear seems like more of a hassle than getting a 2CH. Plus you would have to manage two memory cards. I've been learning the lesson of "Pay once, hurt once." It's so far proven accurate for me. That's why I went with the F800 Pro on this buy.

But you'd only really need to interact with the SD cards if you had an incident right? I guess I haven't really considered the implications of two 1Ch systems vs one 2Ch system. I just REALLY like that I would be able to view footage and change settings right on the big screen of the kenwood HU. I wish they had a 2CH system :(

Looks good seems Pretty simple! Need it to warm up a bit before i install been in the single digits. The black box hard wiring kit seems simple just supprised how thin the wires are. Now i need to watch some install videos.
