What’s up gang. Signing in for first shift of 14. The fog is thick in nyc tonight!

 

I hate 3rd shift.

 

At the moment, looking for a replacement vehicle that will fit myself and wife (both around 6’) with baby seats behind us. We bought a new smaller seat that’s just not cutting it behind my seat and there will be a rear facing infant carrier behind hers. Luckily; I’m not stuck in the tacoma as it’s a lease that’s up in September. Tundra seems like overkill and out of my price range. I’m in a job where I have to be here regardless of weather/natural disaster / etc.

 

What options you looking at?

 

1/4 Busy and partner didn't do much last night. So I'm trying to get us caught up tonight

 

Something reliable with 4wd/AWD that will fit 2 car seats behind 6footers and won’t break the bank since we’ll be paying $600/week for Daycare.

 

You may have to suck it up for awhile until the kids are out of daycare, get a used sedan (Camry might work). At $600/week my wife would be staying home, more profitable!

 

We’ve talked about that, we’d (see: I’d) have to make up a fair amount of $$ difference if she stayed home.
May just grab another 13-15 Venza as they’ve come down greatly in price and are decent in the snow.

 

I thought $800 a month was bad

 

Man I’m glad we spent the day care years of my son’s life in the Philippines.... Child care was about $1200 a year over there, for a live in.

 

We’re actually paying one of the lower rates and have to drive 25 min from our house slightly out of the way to work for my wife. Surrounding towns are getting 750-850/wk for 2

 

Glad mine are grown out of daycare age

My mother owns her own daycare. I've never asked what the rates are for the kids from 1mo to 5 years. But it helps that alot of parents work within the school district and when they have holidays, my mom will take that holiday as well.

 

When my 2 boys were in day care, it was $875 a month. Crazy. They both could feed their selves and wipe their own ass.

 

He’s home with us on holidays, wife is off but I still have to work every/other. They still charge for the days he’s not there. Every 6 months we “earn” a week vacation where he can stay home or go away to see family and we don’t get billed.
I can’t be mad because it really only breaks down to like 6.50/hr.
