Yeah, maybe. If I had to guess, I'd say my area is like 60/30/10, in terms of percentage I see in Sport, OR and SR5/SR. I almost never see a non-TRD.

I'm curious what the actual percentages are, though.

Maybe look up Toyota's sales numbers for your area or state im thinking they should be releasing that sometime soon.

There’s poll on here on a current thread. It shows over 50% of TW members have ORs

You know Ima dreamer, and my heart’s offroad. I had to drive away high, so I didn’t get stuck low. Home Sweet Home...
    Funny you should ask this...
    UPDATE:

So the the third test drive is a 2016 SR5 with 43K and the dealer is asking $29,490.

I drove a Sport and an OR yesterday and didn’t like two things. The stinking soft ride on the sport, and the crappy hood scoop getting in the way.

The OR is a 2016 with nearly 40K for $32,990. Premium leather interior with high contrast stitching that matches dash details.

I'm a bit confused by your post. The sport has the stiffer ride, not a soft one. And a 2016 OR didn't originally come with leather. Also what does any of this have to do with my post you quoted? lol

The Leather was not Factory installed in 2016, must be something aftermarket. I would still shop for a new one, won't be much more and will have no miles.

Sports are the king around here too. But we don't have any good off road trails.

Besides, driving a Taco in Kansas gets odd looks from the Dodge and Ford crowd anyway. I'd hate to see what they'd say about black fender flairs.

If it doesn't have an 8" vertical stack coming out of the bed and rolls coal at every light, it's not a real "truck."

Good luck on whatever you decide to do. I’m sure in the end you will make the right decision for you, but for the prices I’m seeing I would try to save up and get a new one. I’m sure dealers get a premium for used ones everyday but it just seems relatively high

Also from a trim perspective only, I’ve liked my OR. If I bought one again I’d stick with the OR trim for sure

Kansas sounds exactly like central Illinois, Chocked full of rednecks!

I’m quite happy with my “not a real truck”, “ jap truck” (built in Texas, mind you) Thank you very much o_O

Hey @SDTaco4x4. That’s the feel on the one I drove. (The Sport) The SR5 had a better feel. The Sport I tested had a brush guard, step bars, and no telling what other mods... big scratch on the passenger front door. :-/ Its all about the model’s differences.

@Deathray XD hahaha. That’s what i was driving home behind last night. It was literally a like 79 dodge with some ungodly loft kit, 18” wide off-road low profiles rolling coal from that bed stack. To be frank, it appealed to my redneck tendencies, but just for fun!

    Hashtag Jap Truck From TX!!!

Ford and GM guys...okay they can at least pretend their trucks are superior but Ram? lol Ram owners have no right to determine what is and what isn't a "real truck".

Both of those trucks are SR5's. Are you saying the bottom one is supposed to be an TRD Off Road?

I wonder if maybe the Sport had different suspension put in then, because the stock Sport ride is extremely stiff. I personally love it because the truck handles incredibly, but apparently it's way too firm for others.

Personally, if I were to do it again, I would just myself an SR instead of an OR. I would then go ARB locker rear (and maybe front).

So I would try to get that SR price down a couple grand and go with that.

My first Tacoma was black, such a sexy color, but a lot of work to keep pristine. Worth it though! Congrats!

    We’re gonna want some pics!
