So to start off I'm new to TacomaWorld, was just a lurker finally decided to come out of the shadows. Anyway my blind-spot monitor says "monitor unavailable" every time I try to activate it. I took it into my local dealer and they want $210 to calibrate it. Shouldn't this be covered under warranty? Any help would be appreciated!

Damn. I would think warranty. How many miles? Did you check to make sure your sensors weren't unplugged or loose at the connections?

I would think the warranty should cover it . Maybe not if you put a lift on the truck .

Same here. Not covered by warranty because I have body damage to rear quarter panel

Try disconnecting the battery for a little while. Worked for me.

I have less than 5k miles. I'll have a look at the connections.

If you have only 5K miles and NO lift or alterations, I don't see how this could NOT be a warranty issue???

Do Not screw with it yourself yet!!

IT IS a warranty concern. You're still in the base warranty 3yr/36k. Basically anything is covered. They're lying to you if the say it isn't covered. Unless you've been in a wreck of course.

Then I don't see how that wouldn't be covered under warranty. Did they give you an explanation?

They said they had to re-calibrate the sensor in order for it work again which would cost me $210. I told them to hold off on that!

I mean did they give you an explanation as to why it's not covered under the warranty?

Start a claim with Corporate Toyota.
    Try another dealership.

I'd want to speak to a manager first and get an explanation.

Like I mentioned above, I'd ask to speak to the service manager and hear what he has to say, because I can't fathom that not being covered.
