    Hey everyone,
I just got back from test driving the trd off road and the trd sport. I like the way the trd sport handles better on the road. The off road tended to shake more on bumps. However,.. i have a bad back and its crucial i buy a truck that doesnt aggravate my back more since i am doing a lot of physical therapy. The tacoma seats are only like ten inches off the floor. Are there any ways to fix this? I told the salesman if he can put the 4runner seats in the tacoma he'd have a sale today. What are the options. Has anyone switched seats in their tacoma or done something to fix the low seating. I see its a common complaint.

Unless you are short, I don't think there is a lot of headroom if u raise the seat up. With that said I'm sure someone on here has at least attempted raising the seat up, I haven't though.

He said he spoke with a parts guy and said we could talk about it when I was ready to buy. Then I said but is it possible,... then he kinda squirmed and said not likely.

I've seen a couple of folk make spacers out of tube steel to put under the seat track.

That's just how the seating position is in a Tacoma, been that way for years and since they sell so well why change it, if you want a more seated position instead of legs straighter out, try a tundra. I know that's probably not the answer your looking for but tundra is a more seated position like you are looking for.

Welcome to tw. I also have back issues, also a pinned knee. Been driving toyota pickup since 93 love how low the seat sits. Recently picked up an 08 tacoma n prefered it over my 3500 dodge i had.

+10000000 On this. Look into the Tundra. More of a seated position and the ride is a lot more forgiving and a lot smoother than the Tacoma is. Also, if you get the OR tundra, you should get the power seats which will offer you the fine adjustment to your likes and needs. The Tacomas that you are looking at do not offer power seats. That is my 2 cents.

BUT!!!!! If you do decide to go with a Tacoma OR, I have a 17 OR in Barcelona Red that I just leased in December '17. I would love to be able to transfer the lease.... Let me know!!! HAHA!!

    But seriously.... let me know....

    Good luck to you!

    I'm going to suggest a 1/2 ton.

    Pusher, softer ride. Taller seats.

OP...why are you looking at the Tacoma in the first place? I have a 2014 Tacoma that I love but if my back was that bad I would have bought a vehicle with seats that allow for more adjustments and were more comfortable.
