some basic taco questions

hi folks,

first time poster, please forgive my basic questions. i am looking at a 2007-2010 Tacoma 4x4 Access Cab, considering both I4 and V6, preferably with a manual transmission.

1) what year did the Tacoma get LED tail/turn signals?
2) what year was the aux audio input on the stereo added?
3) somebody told me that the older (maybe 1st generation?) V6 engines had a timing belt that had to be replaced fairly regularly...is this still true of the 2nd generation V6s?

i have some other questions, but i figure that is a good start. thanks for reading, i do appreciate any responses.

1) LED Tail lights came out in 2009.
2) 2009 or 2010. I have a 2010 and it has the aux port. I'm not 100 percent about the 2009.
3) I have had two 2nd generations with no problems.

Backup Cameras came out in the 2009.
I have hands free bluetooth in my 2010 and I am not sure if the 2009 has that feature.
The 2010 also has side curtain air bags. Once again I am not sure when those became standard but they were not on my 2006.

As far as motor size, I would recommend a V6. My justification is that you will be getting around the same mpg in both motors because you will have your foot stuffed in the 4 banger.

Remember - you can swap tails and add an ipod input for very little money. If you save a couple of a grand buying an '08 vs. an '09, just food for thought.

 

RE: Time Belt, I think the 2nd gens have a timing chain which doesnt have to be serviced as often.
