It’s been perfect fishing weather down here!

If you’ve got the ski racks for the truck (which I’m considering myself), I’d vote trailer. That’s a big ass tube to be permanently mounted on the truck.

I made a 8 foot rod pod a few years ago out of 4 or 5 inch pvc. I put two eye screws (the kind that supports 2-300 pounds) spaced about 4 feet apart so I can run a strap through it to a rack or whatever. It has served me well over the years.

Damn that think looks sleek probably going to be a fast girl! color isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be based on the pics and it looks a lot better than the stock pics as well. I guess pushes the PA so much they don't do much for their other yaks

She’s home! Going out to the ponds tomorrow to get a feel for her...

I will sooner than later. I had a Garmin I liked a lot on my previous kayak but I’ll probably go with a Lowrance for the seamless install. Which one do you have?

I’ll probably go with a Lowrance Hook4 with all the bells and whistles. I don’t want anything with a screen much bigger than 4”.

I like seeing the actual map because then I can also plan places to check out and stuff. Comes in handy on the coast probably not so much at a lake.

I got spoiled with dual 15 screens and I like being able to split screen.

That’s what I liked about the maps...especially on the coast with all the waterways down here.

I’ve been waiting on ordering a fish finder until I’ve fished this new boat a few times and got my layout figured out. I’ll then be more confident on placement as well as actual fish finder form (size, vertical vs horizontal layout, etc.).

Since I’m hitting the pond for the new boats maiden voyage, I broke out some of my ultra light tackle to see if I can find some panfish.

I can’t not fish...that would be crazy! :goingcrazy:

$30 ultralight rod and reel combo from Wally World is my go to for panfish. Love those things! Can beat it around and if I need a new one it’s cheap to replace.

Not a saltwater guy so I usually run medium to light power with a slower action for my freshwater uses. What do y’all recommend for rod set ups? I need to replace about 3 rods right now.

I’ve been looking into Lew’s rods the past few days and can get a few of those for about $50 each. My cousin uses them for bass fishing and says they are some good under the radar rods for the money.

I’ve got 3 reels I use for bass fishing that I can just swap over and use. Just trying to not go crazy with tackle since I still want to get a new kayak and all.

Pretty much what Joe said. Honestly, I do both my bass and inshore salt (reds, trout, etc.) fishing with the same rods and reels. A decent combo would be a Penn Battle II with a 2500 reel or for a few bucks more, go with a Spinfisher V combo in the same size.

Phone for the coast isn't nearly as accurate but I've used mine for a long time. If you pay you can have navionics on your phone.

I am a huge fan of star rods for salt but also use them for fresh. I have a collection of all types of rods. Everything from cheap ugly sticks to couple hundred buck Shimano rods. I fish a lot of cats and have several spinning bait runner reels. I usually run med action for salt but like a fast action for bass. I guess I've fished enough and developed my techniques and hooksets that I look for specific actions and weights for different applications. But if I were to say my favorite most versitile combo it would have to be my lews baitcaster on a 7'6" med hvy with a moderate action salt rod. That seems to be what I like and how I like to fish
