Adjusting 5100's while installed?

I recently got 5100 all around with 2 inch coils on front with the 5100 set to 0 to avoid preload with the 3 leaf AAL in the rear, the front has settled slightly and is a tad bit lower than the rear...not insane low but enough for my ocd to kick in and notice it. I'm having my tires rotated tomorrow and was wondering if we undid the bottom shock bolt and compressed the spring would we be able to slide it up to the second notch which I believe is .75? which would hopefully level it out without making the ride stiff.

 

Don't see why not with a spring compressor.
Was thinking to doing the same.

 

You won't be able to compress the spring with the shock still in it. You'll have to take it out and change the snap ring location.

 

I wonder how long that would take, and I would probably need another alignment afterwards?

 

I guess I should claify, with the strut assembly still mounted. There isn't enough room

Depends. Have you done it before? Will you have help?. With a couple buddies you could do both sides in an HR or so. Also, if you have someone to stand on the lca while you pull the strut up and out, and don't losen the lca you won't need an alignment.

 

Can't be done . Be safe and take them off . You will probably need a new alignment .

 

Getting ready to change the springs on my 5100s.....for the 3rd time

 

What have you changed from and to .I did stock at setting two and now at 0 with 885's

 

I've always had them on 0. Which is the most lift. I started with 884s, then went to 885s. Just added a bumper and winch last weekend so I'm putting 886s on.

if you can get the spring compressor in there you may not even have to undo the bottom bolt as long as you can get that lower spring mount up high enough. May make it easier to pop the snap ring off with it securely mounted. Preloading those lift coils is prolly gonna make it pretty stiff however

 

even just at the first setting?

 

One way to find out, and if you can change it when it’s installed it’ll be easy enough to switch back if it’s too harsh

How much are your fingers worth to you. That’s a lot of stored energy. I wouldn’t do it but I would look at the carnage if it went wrong and you ended up with mittens for hands.
