Background:
As you can see from the title, this is my 2nd build thread. After owning my 2010 MGM Toyota Tacoma DCSB TRD OR PreRunner for a little over year, my wife and I (with lots of convincing from my end) came to the conclusion that a 2wd did not suit what we want to use the truck for. Although the PreRunner was a TRD OR with a locking rear diff, nothing compares to having the confidence that comes with have a locking rear diff AND 4wd. With that being said, I went 0 to 100 real quick on selling the PreRunner and ended up with my 2008 Desert Sand Mica Toyota Tacoma DCSB TRD OR 4x4 a week later. I am fortunate enough to have awesome friends that helped me bring my old truck mostly back to stock two days before selling which allowed me to keep all all my old mods and throw them on the new rig.

Use of Vehicle:
Moving from the concrete jungle to the middle of the Sonoran Desert introduced a rare opportunity for my family and I. We were so used to living in the middle of the towering skyscrapers and fast paced life of Tokyo that the laid back/wide open feel of Tucson was quite welcoming and refreshing. We are going to use this opportunity to finally get to explore the great outdoors and hopefully see the places you see in magazines. Now equipped with a 4x4 rather than my old PreRunner, possibilities are endless and lots of good memories are definitely in store.

What made you go icons in the front and ADS in the rear?

 

TBH I went with the Icons up front because I got a hell of a deal on the setup and I went with ADS in the rear because they are local here in Tucson and I can have my shocks serviced 15 minutes down the street from where I work (They service Icons as well). I would've matched the front and rears with either Icon or ADS but for the deal I got on the fronts, I couldn't pass it up.

The pairing of both makes a nice smooth ride on pavement and butter on wash boards. I'm not gonna front and act like I'm a genius when it comes to different shock valving and what makes one better than the other, but I can tell you that I've gotten lots of compliments on how butter my truck rides on washboards compared to others. I will say when I first installed the Dakars and ADS shocks in the rear, the ride was very stiff, but once I mounted the RTT in the back, the weight smoothened out the ride and my truck rides like stock or even better (IMO).
