Lookin good man! I would personally skip the Yakima tent though, been in one before and wasn't really impressed by it. I would go with Tepui, CVT, or FSR. REI carries Tepui as well so you can get them locally and save on shipping if you have one near by, plus they are included in their 20% off sales. Picked up my Tepui from REI and couldn't be happier with it.

That being said, it's your money so get what you like

Congratulations, great looking truck. Just curious what did you pay for it if you don't mind sharing?

no problem. $13k. Water pump and timing belt recently done. Brand new tires. When I had the pre-purchase inspection done, the tech said he'd buy it if I didn't.

I really only like the first gen (had a 2003 back in the day), but I didn't want a problem child. This one was so nice I was ok spending a little extra.

Thanks. Yeah, I'll definitely look at the Tepui Ayer Sky. Actually learned about that one before the Yakima, and I can check them both out at REI, which is nearby.

I like the mounting system on the Yakima, but it's not like I'll be putting it on and taking it off every weekend. Maybe three trips a summer. Not a big deal. Price and weight is pretty comparable for the two-person tents, so it'll really come down to features/quality.

Your truck is a carbon copy of what my truck look like when I bought it from a phoenix dealership for years ago with 85000 miles. Doesn't look stock anymore LOL I guess I got the mod fever. Hideaway front winch installed leather seats and just recently installed a reverse mirror backup camera with compass and temperature. Amongst many other mods. Enjoy and good luck on your new truck.20180210_170020.jpg

Nice catch. The ultimate bluegrass-festival vehicle.

Truth be told, one reason I bought the truck was to give the Eurovan a mileage break. Nearly 200K on Ol' Blue.

Just got a call from the mechanic and I guess the rear u-joint right by the pinion seal is bad. He said the sound is traveling through the driveshaft since it is hollow which made it sound like it was coming from the carrier bearing area.

I ended up with a Ayer Sky and it's been awesome. The quick mounting for the Yakima is pretty damn cool, but my lazy ass probably would just leave it on once I got it mounted. One thing I would change is getting a 3 person tent, my gf and I fit but it's deftly cozy in a 2 person. Only problem is the price jump from 2 to 3 person tents is pretty significant, even with 20% off and free shipping

Still though, I honestly don't think I can go back to camping on the ground...like some commoner lol

    haha nah i doubt it.

This is why I don't want to particularly want to go back to the alpine loop. Probably will someday with Devin but for now..i think there are better places to see that don't have the traffic.

yeah...all with the same truck though..haha

    Yeah, I hear ya there.

I'll look at both sizes, but I'm pretty much set on a 2-person. It's only me. If it's my kids joining, or my wife (who would rather stick knitting needles in her eyes than sleep in a tent), I have the VW Eurovan pop-top.

No doubt. When you came down to do the front end
I'd say "keep me posted" as to when you come down and wheel/camp but given Monte's history I'm not so sure I want to be on the trail with him.

Stuff and things that make it better.
I don't know what's in superlube but anything with Molybdenum in it is recommended.

Pretty sure I endured that debate.

Then listened to the Coleman > Yeti rant.

And maybe an air compressor brew-ha-ha too.

I really want to start a kickstarter for Brett's TW Rants book.
