Got off the phone with the manager and he said that there was a code for collision. I've never been hit anything the only thing I've hit is the trails so :notsure:

Then I'd personally go to another dealership. If they won't do it, then I'd contact Toyota.

I got mine fixed under warranty....it never worked at all from new...!! No dash lights. It was a wiring harness that needed replacing.

Contact corporate. They take this kind of stuff seriously. You will probably have the issue resolved within two business weeks.

The blind spot monitor sensors, pnc's 88172 and 88162, look like they are behind the rear bumper. upload_2018-2-22_16-56-11.jpg

That's a warranty item. Mine came up with that same error while driving down the highway. Dealer re-calibrated for free (during the next service).

I'll have to check the sheet to tell you the exact code for collision that came up, but the tech said the code can be triggered by an accident or a harsh impact like running over a pot hole. :annoyed:

Well, pot hole isn’t a collision even if that can trigger a collision code.

A pot hole should not void your warranty. This is a situation that can be fixed, and should be by any reasonably competent person. If not, as has been said, get corporate involved and tell them there is no collision history, and this is unacceptable.

The Toyota Techs live and die by the "codes", I had an issue with my truck and the "codes" were telling them I was dis-connecting the battery and clearing the codes with a scanner, after the Shop Foreman drove the truck for a few days and it started throwing random codes for him he decided that maybe, just maybe, the codes were wrong, and I was not disconnecting the battery, I was not, and I was not clearing the codes with a scanner, which I was not because I don't have a scanner.

If you have not been in an accident and they won't fix it call corporate and start a file.

They probably don't get paid enough by corporate to fix it under warranty so they want you to pay so they can charge you their shop rate, which Toyota HQ will not pay.

I drove for hours during a ridiculous snow storm during hunting season, and my sensors stopped working. I waited until the truck thawed out a bit, and took it to a car wash, and still it didn't work. So my next free service (10k) I told them about it. They asked if I backed into a snowbank or something, I said no, and they fixed it. Has continued to work even with continued winter driving. Stick with it or go to a different dealer. You should NOT have to pay for that.

I have had the same resistance to fixing things (software update to stop erratic shifting) where they insist they have to have codes tripped. I called corporate to start a file and they weren't at all helpful. Said a code was needed, but they couldn't tell me what the code was. *pissed*

Thought I read that a grille swap on the 18s were causing issues with the bsm sensor. Member said dealership didn't cover it bc of the grille swap... even if it was a factory tacoma grille swap

I know this was posted earlier in this thread but I asked him if there was a resolution. It looked like a harness issue in this case, that was covered under warranty.

Which waranty is this covered under? My basic is done but powertrain still active. This just started happening recently Im assuming from the snow, salt and ice. Just took it through the car wash and issue persists. Im starting to wish I kept my 2nd gen.
