I've definitely broken #1 quite a bit. But +100000 to letting your experiences and priorities dictate your build, not what everyone else has.

@kyuss88 @not_nick @chad_chinchilla I'm pretty booked in March, but will probably be in the shop on the 18th. CMC with out plating takes 30 min or so, welding on the plate adds another 30.

Doing the wheel bearing is a 2 hour or so job.

Just did mine 2 days ago. About 10mins per side. Just be careful with those suicide wheels.

That'll equal a whole lot more problems than a snorkel install. This is what everyone has going through the back of their mind while they're staring a puddle down trying to figure out their line and how to keep momentum without going too fast and nose diving right into a pit.

Doesn't help that some holes in the pines can be 3 inches or 3 feet deep and look the same. I guess going with a group is best, then everyone sticks with the Floor-It & Forget-It™ plan. Haven't been out there for a few months, but going out tomorrow. No idea what it'll look like after all this rain the past week or so - some of the roads have really started to give way to overflowing creeks over the past year... If I don't report back, look for a tail light sticking out of some water next time you go through.

^^^ This is a very important step to water crossings most do not consider. Entry speed, momentum, along with a line choice is how to properly do a water crossing. Not smash and go.

With all the rain we’ve had better get yourself a water bra brah!

Just a reminder with high water crossings. Shit can go bad fast. Snorkel will not protect your electronics. Made that same crossing multiple times before.

Whoa, didn't even know these were a thing. I don't even have a snorkel yet so I'm finding a bypass or turning around if I see anything too much bigger than the taco on this go. Even then, I've seen some doosies.

Ya, that's what I meant about "a whole lot more problems." My taco is my daily, so I gotta keep my head on straight - especially going alone.

These are the struggles of modern mankind. A burden us overlanders and explorers must bare.

Last time I was there I went with a Land Rover Disco that had a snorkel and made him go first every time. I left early that day and had the option of going through two trees with less than an inch either side or try a water crossing. I chose the tree. Rain or not those can be any depth out there like you said.

Scouting is probably the most important thing people overlook with water crossings. Get out and wade, or send your dog through it, that’s what I do in the pines. Entry speed and kicking up a wake to follow behind is key. Here is the deepest I feel comfortable going, up to windshield washers nozzles: https://youtu.be/9opz-f2HwMY

@cynicalrider youve got the cardone ps pump right? Any good? Debating on spending $80 on a used pump with 160k miles just cuz it's oem or just getting the cardone at pep boys. Tired of messing with the pulley.

Same, but only if I need to, to get to the trail on the other side. Also depends on if there are rocks under there or sketchy sand.

I've gone through 2 reman cardone pumps, still have one screaming at me. Plan to go brand new OEM when I can.

Not sure what OEM costs but if this is much less I'd go this route. BBB is going to put A1 out of business one day. They're based out of long island and make some very good quality stuff.
