That's for sure. I really underestimated the value of a heavier vehicle when towing something big. My Sierra tows so much nicer than my Tacoma it's not even funny.

Oh, and even with the V8 get's better mileage.

 

yeah the supercab isn't bad, the damn clamshell doors annoy me. One of my friends got his leg kind of stuck in my AC Tacoma one time. Sounded painful, could have only imagine how much it hurt haha

but that gear ratio and engine combo should work for you

 

Yea I have read that but im not interested in cylinder deactivation and certainly not a chrysler guy so basically the others are out. Wish they made a 3/4 Tundra.

 

there was a "what the fuck moment" followed by I need to change my underwear. Usually the steering is super light and when that happened it fought the whole way back. I had plenty of braking space to. Idk if it was just a fluke but def didn't want to deal with it

The GM HD trucks don't have cylinder deactivation, only the 1500s. Personally, I wouldn't buy a 3/4 ton gas unless you put very minimal miles on them. They burn a lot of gas! I put too many miles on to get a gasser 3/4 ton, I'd go broke with the fuel costs.

I have toyed around doing the same thing, F250 STX with basic options is cheaper than a stripped F150 with the options you'd need for towing.

 

C'mon now... we've been discussing all makes today, little GM, little Fiat, little Ford, even a video of RRGs new triple-winged go-cart. We are a diverse group of degenerates!

 

GM's 6.0 Gasser in the 2500/3500 is a useless engine I feel like. Engine is old a tired and has seen no update for over 10 years. The Dodge and Ford gas engines have so much more power and can actually get out of their own way. For me the only thing good is you can get the Alison transmission with the Duramax and that's it. Even to me its an amazing transmission on a not so great engine.

 

GM stopped putting the 6.0 in trucks a few years ago, they use the 6.2 now

 

I'm lucky if I put 10k miles on my truck in a year

 

which has the cylinder deactivation

 

the 1500 can get the 6.2, the 2500 and 3500 still get the 6.0

EDIT AGAIN: So really you are better off getting the 1500 with the 6.2L and max trailer package then the 2500

the 6.2 has it and is optional in the SLT. regardless GMs pricing is way higher than ford

 

but then they go and take $10k-15k right off the sticker randomly... so its a crap shoot

 

true but i also have a cousin that was a manager at a Nissan dealer and is now at a Ford dealership so by all means I would probably get the most bang for my buck there.
