Hope it turns out to be nothing. Was thinking about @TownvilleTim and @JimboAnz and now you.

This shit is hitting too close to home. In the span of about a year- the 3 of you have been affected by this. @TownvilleTim pergaps the most scary.

@JimboAnz wasnt your sons school on lock down a few months back too? I know the FL shooting was way too close for comfort.

We also had a 19 year old walk in to Cabelas near me, by a gun and ammo- then drive to the peachstand- walk in and shoot the cashier several times!

Then 3 police officers were shot, one died in an ambush attack here in York, SC. They may rename Carowinds Blvd after the fallen officer.

I hope mental illness laws change, ASAP!!

From my understanding the threat was made towards the neighboring high school. SHS. They were locked down yesterday as well. Our PD advised ours to lock down too. So that’s why his school did it.

The mental illness laws are tough you have dr., client privilege to deal with then what sets the standard of when someone is a threat enough to purchase a gun. CPS laws and such have been going nuts for a while. I read an article out of Wa. state where a dr called CPS on a family telling them that the parents were failing to feed the child enough bc she was way below avg size and weight. Well the child was yanked from the parents without an investigation and they had to fight to get her back. Well the DR was way off bc mom is technically a little person and dad wasn't but 5'1" so wtf. The doc had no punishment for making false claims etc. I am sorry but this could be a slippery slope with DR determining who is fit to own a gun. There are a ton of variable questions that is not just a one size fits all answer. I do think something needs to happen to do something about the mental health issues in the US having family who suffered from it and it eventually taking his life its a shitty thing. What needs to happen I have no idea I do think that sick punks that do this horrific slayings need to be stopped somehow where and how we stop them I haven't a clue.

    Child Protection Services are different.

I used to sell an anti-psychotic drug. I have hosted psychiatric perceptorships, psychiatric medical education symposiums, and have received professional medical training in the area.

HIPPA laws can flex when it come to these people purchasing guns. Patients on pschotropic/ anti-psychotic drugs do not need to puchase an AR.

Responsible gun owners need to have their rights protected. If new laws regarding gun access for mental health patients are not enacted; we may all be negatively impacted.

I agree that if something minor isn't done to keep the psychopaths away from guns then something major will happen. My concern, and reasoning for that example, is if you get an overzealous doc that reports someone and puts them on the unable to purchase list just like that doc in the article I read he was overzealous and overstepped his bounds. Also my concern is in the actual line being drawn of where does that happen with mental illness and then will it keep moving. Like I said it could be a slippery slope. Already there is a no purchase if you are involuntarily committed deal but there is a very lagging system of the states reporting that to the feds. Getting that damn thing up to speed should be step 1 but it isn't. Some states are almost a yr behind in that reporting as well as other reporting that would put you on the do not purchase list.

I think the whole mental health system needs a rehaul. We have people come in to the ER and basically camp for months because there’s no place for them to go and get treatment.

waaayy too many copycat threats - kids don't think anything is going to be done to them. That it can't be tracked back to them.

Just talked to kiddo, he said there was definitely an increased police presence at school today, many kids bailing out early, rumors of a potential shooter, nothing official. Balh, so done with it.
