Because your eyes cannot focus on things close and far away at the same time maybe?

You really want to bring personal judgements into play here?
That's an easy way to get banned lol.

FYI, it's people like me who read letters from people like you and make long term product decisions that you use . Think about that for a minute...;)

You're not wrong. But just like you can move your eyes from the road to look up at a stop light, you can move your eyes from the road to glance down near your truck or wherever you want to look. And if I can have good visibility in both places, why not? It's really not that hard to understand, is it?

Exactly. If I can have light both close to my truck and far away at the same time, that’s better to me than only being able to see far away. Even when it’s not foggy or raining, I often have my fog lights on to better see into ditches and into the trees along the side of the road to watch for animals.

If fog lights are aimed properly, there is no reason they should blind other drivers. The only “fog lights” I’ve ever been blinded by are from the people who think offroad flood lights are the same thing or who run led/hid bulbs in their fog light housings.

The argument that you can’t see what’s near to you and far away at the same time makes no sense. You can be looking ahead into the distance and then glance down or to the side to see what’s near your truck. It’s not like it takes a noticeable amount of time for your eyes to refocus from far vision to near vision.

They way I did the fog lights w/ high beams is to add a relay. The control side of the relay is connected to the L/H high beam, and the power side of the relay is connected to the control side of the fog light relay and ground. That way when you turn on high beams, the relay closes, thereby grounding the fog light relay, which closes also, turning on fog lights. Requires 2 wires & and relay, pretty simple.

If you're after more light just in general for off-road purposes, just do this :D. I have a similar setup from @CaliRaisedLed and it works great. Downside is that they really don't work as proper fog lights anymore because of how they throw the light, and the fact that these will 100% blind other vehicles on the road. As a result I have never used them with other vehicles around, but the trade off was worth it for me. Also the setup looks cool, so bonus points I guess.

    Thank you!

    Crap! Sorry @FrostHammer

I'm horrible with electrical stuff. I have no idea what you are saying and I'm sure it's really basic and easy to most people. Ugh

If it's like my last vehicle, the pcm takes the ground away when you turn on highs, all you would need is to tap into that ground wire with a switch that you could toggle to give it ground, simple really, just need to find what wire to tap into

Hopefully these help. The body ECU is located on the L/H side under your dash, kind of behind the hood release. You will need to find a place to put the relay (I put mine in the engine compartment).

The 1st diagram shows your truck stock, the 2nd what you would need to add:

And these are the associated diagrams from the manual. I've attached them as pdf too.

    Sweet, thanks for the diagrams!

When you turn on your HB's, does it turn on the fogs regardless if the fogs were on or off -or- do you need to have the fogs already turned on for it to work when you activate the HBs?

My fogs light up a lot of the area to the left and right unlike headlights which light up just what's in front of me, that's why run them and have upgraded them. Seeing 500ft ahead and almost 180° to the right or left of the front of the vehicle is very helpful in my area where there aren't many street lights.

It is illegal to have more than 4 lights on at a time, in a four (4) system high and low beams. If you have high beams on your low beams are on at the same time. On Gen 2 I wired the fog lights to be on any time, I have not seen a mod for this on the 3rd Gen.
On the 3rd gen you can have the fog lights on with the DRL's.

Not entirely true. It depends on the individual state laws...
