I was referring to the 2UZ that came in the 03+ 4Runners (well, specifically the VVT-i version in the 05+), but I see your point there.

That slight jerking you feel when you turn on the AC like someone just hit your rear bumper.

    -Noisey blower
-Not enough power or v8's especially on DCLB's (superchargers were 5k option!)
    -No leather seats
    -Rust prone frame
-Poor mpg compared to larger v8's (Only 1-2 mpg difference for 1/2 tons or even worse)
-large difference in mpg between same engines
-ac compressor locked up before 80k miles

Other then that all vehicles have their gripes and I love this truck

No V8, no power seats, leather, or sunroof. 4Runners have had it all for years. Toyota went cheap on the interior on the Tacomas up until 2015

Yeah I'm not sure why they skimped on interior goodies and optioned v8s for the 4runner and not a truck of all things. I understand tacomas are utilitarian but I assume they wanted to push more expensive full sized trucks like all manufactures or they assumed old man Johnson wouldn't like the extra kick in the pants.

No auto up/down for the other windows, and the stupid removable cup holders that stick to the bottom of anything I put in there.

I think worst gripe is that my truck doesn't wake up all my neighbors and cause their dogs to bark at 5am and dumps black smoke everywhere. Is there a mod for that?:notsure:

So comparing my 2011 trd Offroad access cab to my girlfriends 2011 sr5 4runner, I'll just list the things I can think of off the top of my head where the 4runner is better.
    -manual transfer case
    -nice leather heated seats
    -better cockpit/controls layout
-120v and 12v recepts in the center console and in the back area with no button to have to push to turn them on
-puddle lights and turn signals on mirrors
-comes stock with 265/70/17 and respectable looking wheels
    -made in Japan
    -30 extra HP
-the gas cap holder on the gas door(which my 2000 tacoma had)
-struts that hold the hood up
    -probably 100 other things

Price was almost identical, the only thing the truck has better is the elocker, basically if Toyota made the Tacoma just like the 4runner, but with a bed, it would be the best truck ever. I would also like a fully boxed galvanized frame, a door lock on the passenger door and the Pro suspension should be stock. Other than that the truck is tits, love it.
