    @mesojdm, I did this exact thing - unclipped the middle wire. But my ultimate dome light doesn't turn on at all with this method? At least not with the switch that is up front next to the map lights. It will turn on if I manually select "on" on the dome light switch itself?

    Haven’t looked at the wiring schematic so I’m just taking an educated guess, but I’m pretty sure that middle wire is what comes from the switch by the map lights. The doors tell the front switch to turn on, and the front switch tells the dome to turn on.

    Disconnect that wire, and the front switch can’t tell the dome to turn on. Which is what most people want. That way they can manually turn on the dome when they need the extra brightness, but it won’t come on automatically so it doesn’t blind you at night
