get a supercharger they said...it would be fun they said :annoyed:

on the way to work today, i heard a new unnerving sound coming from the engine bay...luckily it was right before an exit so i pulled off and into a gas station parking lot...

    found this...
    20180326_071059.jpg

another belt shredded with the outer rib cut off... i just had this happen a few months ago and this is a fresh belt...

ok something isn't right..shouldn't be shredding belts that fast....underneath i go and i see this...
    20180326_072516.jpg

hmm, seems like those should line up...well that would explain alot!

so i put what was left of the belt back on so i can get the truck home...grabbed a new belt on the way to work in the commuter car and came home to work on the truck during lunch...
    20180326_073536.jpg

pulled things apart and noticed that i had an extra washer behind the idler no.1 pulley. per instructions, no washer...
    20180326_090134.jpg

    20180326_133312.jpg

took the inner washer out and the washer between the pulley and the spacer...now my ribs line up perfectly!
    20180326_134207.jpg

    hopefully the last shredded belt

    Nice!

Was gonna say. My dad has never shredded one. We just replaced his first one ever due to mileage.

talking with jace, it is probably from a difference in the idler pulley designs. the older versions might have required the washers. they've redesigned the pulleys after they were failing so much.

when i replaced my SC belt two times ago, i must have put in a new pulley. the new pulley and washers led to the misalignment and belt before this shredding...then not seeing the misalignment shredded this last one.

should be good to go now :knockonwood:

u can still drive the truck with out the belt. it will just act like a NA vehicle. i had mine shred once when after i changed it because i didnt have the belt lined up right. just cut it out and drove the rest of the way home with no issue
