I picked up a set of take off 2018 Pro leafs...

This will be going on my 2015 and I planned on doing an Icon AAL as well. Before I dove into it I had a few questions first.

    1. It looks like I will have to cut off the factory clamp on the rear, which the icon retaining clamp will take place of.
    2. The front most factory clamp looks like it will have enough clearance with the end of the front AAL, but is it okay if the AAL river head rides over top of the overload?

the AAL has a longer side. should be going towards the rear. your leaf pack also is directional so be sure both are the right direction. you'll see where the leaf hits the rivet.

go to 1:30 and you'll see where I grinded.

Thanks for the video, I watched it the other day! Is there any chance you could take a picture of the front of the leaf pack where the AAL retaining clip/rivet sits over the Overload spring when you get a chance?

Thank you for your reply...I read some of the AALs are different...and I guess mine has the bracket closer towards the axle which would contact the OL

First confirm you have them in right, longer towards the rear. :)

Older style Icon's you have to cut the reward clamp off your factory pack to prevent rubbing. I had to do this on my '14 TRD OR. I've had no issues from it.

Newer style Icon's you do not have to cut the clamp, they are shorter. This was the case when I installed them on my Dad's '14 TRD OR.

@Jared8907 Did you end up cutting the clamp to get it to go over the overload clamp with your ICON AAL? Thanks!

Yes, I had to remove the factory second rear most clamp, and I cut off the retainer and river off of the front of the AAL as well

Thanks. Based on what you provided in the other thread, the one I'm seeing is the older version of the AAL with clamps on the longest and second longest leaf. I want to retain my OL so I think I'll have to remove the one ICON as well.

What was the best way you found to remove the ICON rivet/clamp?

You can see where the rivet was, it would have ridden on the OL.

Separate AAL pack, drill out rivet...they’re pretty soft. Once drilled most of the way through you can pry off the clamp. It probably took me a total of 10min. I think I used a 1/4” bit, maybe 9/16...if you hit the leaf you’ll know it by the sharp noise and dull drill bit.

Hit the surface with a sanding disc to smooth any rough spots and hit it with your favorite flavor of spray paint

Thanks Jared for all the help! Super appreciated
Did you consider getting rid of that flat block where the river was or that “nipple” so it wouldn’t contact the OL?

Did you leave the overload in as well? I see that Icon recommends leaving it out

OL is on mine. I have a Headstrong AAL.

the OL should only effect height unless you're going to put a heavy load.
