Haha, they're amazing, just look at them even hand signed by Mr. King himself...

I really wanted to have my truck for an upcoming trip rather than beat on my cruiser. So I opted to buy these things for $50 and run them until the Kings get here, still 4 weeks. They're pretty smooth for something that came with a brodozer block lift haha.

There's a law in California mandating all Pickup Trucks must be registered as Commercial Vehicles. As a result, my registration bears "COML" on it.

Found a random loop hole. In the city of San Francisco, you are not allowed to park in a loading zone unless you are a commercial vehicle. Technically, I am a commercial vehicle so they can't cite me. Maybe for misuse of a loading zone - but hey still a commercial vehicle.

    California is weird man...

If you permanently fix a canopy to the bed of a pickup in Cali you can reregister as an SUV for a lesser cost but it will cost you dearly if they find you rolling around without the canopy.

I've heard about that! Insurance is also cheaper.

Weird situation with my truck too. Since my truck came from the factory as a PreRunner 2WD - I'm paying for 2WD truck insurance. Now that it's 4WD I'm still paying for 2WD insurance which is significantly less than 4WD insurance.

Gonna be hard explaining that to an insurance adjuster...

Don't explain the 2WD to 4WD conversion to an adjuster, your rates will go up and unless you have some sort of stellar insurance they won't cover the extra value of it being a 4WD vehicle in an accident because it technically isn't one. You'll pay 4WD insurance and receive 2WD payout.

My friend is dragging me to the 4 Wheel Parts convention tomorrow. I am so damn tempted to finally get a lift and get this truck off the ground.

I might just come home with a lift... all the vendors are doing cheaper from retail.

I wasn't planning on updating it with the insurance broker, my concern is if I get into a crash and they find a 4WD truck and not a 2WD truck and void my policy.

That'd be a weird reason to void a policy unless 4WD was related to causing the incident. Chances are they'd never notice cause it is all factory equip

With how strict California is I have a feeling somehow since I modified the factory installed equipment it voids the policy somehow since I no longer have the same vehicle that the insurance was registered to.

You're probably right I'm just being overly cautious.

There is nothing that really pairs with billies, yeah you can use stock springs and preload them but then it rides rough and the billies aren't really valved well for our trucks, rear billies are okay for just shocks tho. The OME stuff pairs nicely with itself and you can choose from different spring lengths and rates rather than just preload your old ones.

If they were that anal about it modified and lifted truck policies would be voided outright due to the inherent danger of higher strike points and COG. 4WD or 2WD won't make a difference, you're allowed to modify your vehicle as long as you keep it DOT compliant

Any recommendations for an all around lift in the front and rear? Not looking for anything insane just a couple inches. Ideally I'd like to keep it under $1,000

I plan on getting a front plated bumper and winch at some point soon

I've always seen 5100's and OME coils together, seems like a common setup in the front

I'm not too sure I'm qualified to dispatch money saving advice. I have more money in my rear suspension than I purchased the truck for :/ But if I were in your position with that budget I'd start small and upgrade the components that'll improve the ride the most first. So I'd do OME Nitrocharger struts with the lightest 88x coil applicable for the lift you want (since you just want lift and have no armor). If you keep it around 2-2.25" you shouldn't even need to think about new UCAs or a diff tilt. You can then get either a nice set of 2" lift Skyjacker rear spring or Dakars (whichever is better priced at the time) both have increased load options if you want it. And if you keep it around the 2" lift mark you can use OME Nitrocharger rear shocks in the stock location as well. This in all likelihood is around $1200 but with that trade show you're talking about you might be able to make some connections with a seller or score something there.

You can save some money and do a rear block too and still use the Nitrocharger rear shocks until you're ready to get leaf springs.
