I just picked up a pair of rock sliders and IFS skid plate from RCI for a 2017 TRD Offroad Tacoma. the skid plate mounted fine with no issues however when I went to mount the rock sliders last night I quickly realized on the driver side there is a wiring harness that is attached to the outside of the frame and a junction box on the inside of the frame that neither the instructions or design of the slider seem to account for. Because of the wiring harness the slider flange will not sit flush against the frame as its in way. It also looks like the holes that the junction box uses are supposed to be used to bolt the slider on. I don't really feel comfortable disconnecting it from frame either and trying to relocate it myself (harness or box) as I was assured multiple times these "bolt right up" without any other modifications to the vehicle what so ever. I can post some pictures as well if its helpful. Also I have searched around and read through the other threads regarding these sliders and haven't seen anything like this come up.

Anyone else run into this issue?

    Thanks
    Evan

you're supposed to move that harness.

Also some of the holes that are supposed to be there aren't or are plugged.
There's one hole in the front that seems like its not there but its actually a plug you need to break out first.

let me check my phone if I still have pics of mine installed or I'll go take some hold up

Hope this helps and dont mind the dirtiness and rust. I'm in canada after all and salt is brutal haha

If I rememebr right all the existing hardware for said parts is reused. But you just unbolt them for install then bolt them back in.

I also swapped all the hardware that RCI gives you for 1/2" grade 8 hardware and square washers.

Truthfully I only got RCI because they were the easiest to get here in Canada. But I do not like how they only provide 7/16th grade 5 hardware vs all the others use grade 8 from what I understand. As well the Mobtown ones have the best mounting system. That said I've made the RCI work and they have done fine, used a hilift off them and everything. Just saying if I was doing it again I'd pay the extra for mobtown. As I like their design and mounting system more and my skids are from them, they have far better customer service than RCI.

@Joe23 Did you just pop the clips out of the frame that was holding that wiring harness? What about on the inside of the frame did you have a box that everything plugs into? Did you just mount that back and reuse those holes to mount the slider to?

Everything should unbolt, then bolt back on top the slider.

May be a silly question but is that going to cause issues long term having that harness lay again the slider? With rubbing or anything like that?

    As he said.
If you notice that tie wrap in my picture because you lose one point where the harness was held .So I just put a tie wrap to hold it. Been like that since spring no issues

Unless you don't bolt your slider all the way on... You'll be good!

As long as the slider isn't moving should be ok. Can add a tie wrap like I did just to be safe .

I did not use any extra tie's or whatnot. Not a bad idea but I was comfortable with the security of it as is. It will be fine.

To be fair that tie wrap is also holding other stuff like breather lines and other stuff going to the back

Just went out and checked mine. Haven't looked in awhile but seems to be doing fine. I'm not sure where a zip would help in my situation it's already pretty rigid and pinned to the slider, almost on top of the frame. Here's how mine looks.
