I thought about getting the TSB, but I hate going to the dealer. Never went back ever since driving off the lot back in Oct 2016.

Yea, well I'll be that guy. :crapstorm: I'm underwhelmed, but I don't really think it's a tune issue...it's this lousy trans/eng combo. The tune has improved it in nearly every respect, but the trans dance trying to use cc @ (or manually maintain) 70mph is still there. Improved for sure, but still there and still annoying AF. A vehicle should not have to shift out of 6th to maintain 70mph on a 1-2% grad...and it still downshifts to 4th for any grade over about 2-3 percent.

It's amazing to me. I go back and forth between a 22 YO 3rd gen 4runner and a 2017 Tacoma and in any measurable performance category the Tacoma will stomp the 4runner....but the Tacoma, even with the tune, can't touch the throttle/eng/trans feel of a 22 year-old bog stock 4Runner. You want a little more speed, give it more gas, no downshift, just gradual speed increase. You want to accelerate harder, push harder and you can initiate the downshift based on when you think it's necessary. The Tacoma, you want a bit more speed, give it more than a c-hair of throttle and the $%$#ing thing will downshift every time. No feel whatsoever. The truck decides when to downshift, not you. It's the exact opposite of the 4Runner.

This was a 30 mile drive so I know it needs more miles, so I'm still withholding final judgment until I get 500 miles on it. I'm not knocking the tune. I've had two iterations and both have improved the truck greately, particularly throttle response. Right now if a prospective buyer told me they loved the Tacoma after a long test drive but hated the throttle response, I'd say "get the truck and buy this tune." If they said they hated the throttle response, but absolutely loathed the eng/tranny interaction, I'd tell them "don't buy the truck, buy something else." The tune is not a big enough improvement in that area for me. If this changes as I put more miles on it, I'll post here and indicated as much. If it doesn't improve enough in the next 500 miles, I'll try 91. This is not the slam-dunk I was hoping for to help me keep the truck...I'm still on the fence...:notsure:

Ummmm..... OK. I guess mine had to learn while I was testing it out on the freeway. Should I reflash it so it'll learn all over again or is it cool the way I learnt it?

It will if you're rolling and then hit them both. If you're at a stop and press them both, you get fire haha

I used 1.1.83 too. Make sure every single electrical load is off (screen too). I had to click retry 10-15 times before it worked for the ECU. TCU worked first time. I also disabled Windows Defender completely with a regedit entry. Second option on this page https://www.windowscentral.com/how-permanently-disable-windows-defender-windows-10

Has anyone with 4.88 gears installed 1.03 yet? I just had my gears changed and looking to add the 1.03 tune if it is going to be a huge benefit with 4.88 gears!

Downloaded the toyota flash manager, from OV's first post and from that point forward it wouldn't do anything more. Click the drop down for the ECU/TCU and wont download. And even after disabling windows defender, it says that the PCM Flash is a virus and only the owner can download.. any advice?

Make sure you're using the newest flash manager. I don't think the first page link has been updated yet.

I'm running 1.03b on my 6MT and loving it so far. Put ~70 miles on her so far and it's incredible how much better the truck is to drive.

@OVTune, thanks man. Love your work and look forward to giving you more monies.:rofl::rofl:
