Mimimum post requirements before starting new thread

Just a thought, but you all can make the call. It just seems like a lot of noobs are starting new threads as their first or second post. Now I am not talking about in the new members section, but throughout the site. They all start new threads about which rims and tires, which lift, how this and how that without ever searching. I think if there was a minimum post requirement, like 20 or 25, something a long those lines, it may give them a chance to look around and see what is out there before starting the same old thread again. Shoot, for all I know this may be a repost, but I just thought this could be discussed. If I am way off base, then so be it. I just think a lot of members are tired of the same threads over, and over, and over again.

 

Its not just new members old members does the same thing.

 

This is true, but I think the majority seem to be the noobs who hop on here and ask the same old questions without looking. Maybe the mods could post links to existing threads and lock the new threads, for noobs and vets alike.

 

While my post shows me as a senior member I would probably consider myself relatively new as I just came on in December. Having said this I would think watching, reading old posts, doing searches, would be a good thing prior to posting the "what size tire and wheel should I buy?" post.
20-30 would be a good number before starting new posts for a noob.

Haha. I would say at least 25 posts before you start a thread. I don't even think I started my own thread in my first 1000 posts because I was afraid to get flamed.

 

Being some what of a newbe I can say the first thing I try is the search section to locate what I am interested in. That being said sometimes I don't find it until I post, then again, I depend on a GPS to get me home at times......

 

Exactly what makes one a "Senior" member, age? If so I should be an "Antique" member....

 

I'm unsure of the post requirements because we assume the new members are going to be asking questions, but what if they are posting an event that might be worthy of having a new thread? It might be helpful that a new member has insight into something that has not been previously discussed or pointed out. That's my opinion..

The only thing this would accomplish is a bunch of random pointless post to boost post counts. Is it possible to have a pop up window with a message like 'Have you searched for an answer prior to posting' or something a long that line when someone with 25post or less tries to start a new thread?
