just placed an order for ovtune...now the waiting game begins

 

So far I’m very satisfied with 1.03 (~40 miles on the tune). My only complaint is that my truck is still shifting into 6th around 52 mph with light throttle. Is this something that may change with more miles/learning? Has anyone else noticed this? I used SSP for a while and have experience with multiple shift points 5-6th. I have found the best shift point 5-6th in my truck is around 68-70 mph. I was really hoping this tune would be close to that. Literally everything else about the tune is great! Thanks @OVTune!!!

 

OP is updated, kept it very simple for now. you just need the new version flash manager. Delete that old one, it was for downloading OEM tunes only, and was posted as an example so people could get familiar with it.

 

Can you give a bit more feedback? What makes it so fantastic?

 

OVTune I'm close to pulling the trigger on this (waiting for more feedback) as I'm sure many others are but am worried it wouldn't ship until after you get back from your trip. I know this is probably a difficult thing to answer, but whats the latest a person can order and receive the product before you take off in March?

When you download flash manager, make sure to “save as” and download to a location you can find (e.g your desktop or my documents). Cuz when you download your tune file it will be saved in whatever location you have downloaded flash manager to.

 

Can anyone help with this? For some reason every time I download the flash manager, this windows laptop thinks it’s an adobe file.

 

@OVTune, thanks for the response. Just remember, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people and I am one of those after dicking around with bootcamp and windows 10 all day while everyone else plays. I did get it working and went for about a 40 mile drive. All I can say is WOW! It's like night and day. It is like you came to my house, rolled up your sleeves and helped me upload 1000 pounds of bricks from the bed of the truck. It feels like a car now, it coasts, it accelerates without having to plan it out for a 1/2 a mile or dropping 2 gears. It doesn't have that feeling on the highway like these gears are only for level and downhill, I was accelerating going uphill without the dreaded double downshift. And when it does downshift it is smooth and not noticeable by everyone within earshot. The gas pedal touch is something I will need to get use to but as long as it doesn't learn something stupid I love it. Even my wife who has considered me a whining bitch since I bought it said, just riding along with you I can feel the difference, it rides smoother. I didn't even look at the gas mileage because as I have said before, I want power or mileage, if I can have both great but to not have either pissed me off. I am giddy like a kid on Christmas. I will say it, its FUN to drive it!!!!!!!

 

Find the file on your computer. Then right-click it, and rename it with the extension ".exe"

 

Has anyone tried out cruise control at 65 / 70 / 75?

 

Not yet, was tempted but was having too much fun

I've installed the guardant drivers with apparently no faults, but this has me blocked.

 

I tried it at 65 and 70 and was underwhelmed with the improvement in transmission shifting. The hwy test I did was busy as shit and I couldn't get a 75 mph CC run in in the limited time I had. I do need to try 75 because that may have upped the RPMs enough to get enough power in 6th to maybe not dance around so much on slight inclines.

 

Tried that earlier and got the same result. Still thinks it’s an adobe file. The file type keeps showing 0[1] File.

 

Fun is fun and all. But real life driving....

 

It’s still dances between 5th and 6th. Still likes to get stuck in 4th.
