So. Birthday around the corner. Money in my pocket... time to play.

I would love to put some sliders on my truck. Was going to get nerf bars. Don’t do a ton of off-roading mainly due to lack of time. However last time I went in search of the ultimate car camp site I came close to high centering and dragging the rocker panel so I figured why put that money into nice steps when I can get sliders with the cover plates to double as steps.

Question is. I don’t have a ton of money and would like to go the weld on direction. However. Is this a smart thing to do given it’s a brand new truck with a warranty?? I don’t think I can afford the bolt on and that’s mainly because of horrible shipping costs to AK. any feedback or just good ol’ encouragement is appreciated:)

Well. It was a great deal until I checked the shipping. 350 bucks:(.

There is a shop in Anchorage that gets free shipping on trail gear. However they are weld on and run into my main question again. And they don’t seem to have an option for top plates. It seems like they have bolt in’s but require drilling frame. Which at this point I might as well weld.

    Yes.
I'm running 4XInnovations weld on sliders.
I wouldn't worry too much about the warranty.
I think Toyota learned their lesson on cheap steel, so you shouldn't have any frame rust warranty issues.
Maybe differential, but the sliders would not affect the warranty on anything except the frame.

Don't you guys in Alaska just make everything yourself from raw materials? o_O

Haha. Ya. Lots of that going on for sure. However the percentage of quality is pretty low. Def want it to look good, not like a wad of bubble gum and metal:). I have good access to a marine grade welding shop where all I have to pay is beer... but again not sure if I want to weld?

Great. Thanks for the reassurance. Maybe I’ll just go for the weld.

I have these and Toyota has never said anything about them when I've taken my truck in for service.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
If you have access to a good welder and trail gear will actually ship for free to AK (usually only the contiguous 48) then that's what I'd do on your position. I love my 4XInnovations sliders and have welded them to two trucks now after they successfully survived being bounced on in my rollover haha.

    stock (for now)
It wouldn't hurt to ask the dealer how it would affect your warranty and if possible try getting it in print if you can. I'd also try showing local fab shops similar products you would Like and see if they can build you a set that may be cheaper. GL OP

Will def. talk with the dealer. Thnx for that. Might have trail gear shop to local fabricator for free then see if they could fab some top plates. Thanks for the info guys.

Good to here. Def. liked the looks of those 4xInnovations and that they are made in the US. Bummer so expensive to ship. Only offer fed ex expedited shipping. I do however have a possibility of putting them on a boat in Seattle in April. Will check shipping on this.
