I'm totally confused, why did you have to swap the output shaft? Did you use an A340E instead of an A340F?

Well I must have been a two-wheel drive because they told me that it was a 4 by 4 and it wasn't the output shaft was just a bit too long about 5/8 of an inch longer

That is super confusing, because if it was the A340F it would have the correct output shaft. There is a difference between v6 and I4 though. The I4 has an extra coupler in between the transmission and the transfer case due to differences in engine length I believe? Maybe that was why it was longer the A340F came off an I4 not a v6

That would make sense why the output shaft is longer then. If you have the v6 the t-case is directly coupled to the transmission, while the I4 has that extra coupler that adds a couple inches.

Yea. If I don't have the adapter my shifter won't come out in the right spot.

Huh. Maybe I'm wrong. When I was looking for transmissions some didn't have the coupler and some did while some had the straight shifter and some had the bent shifter

Maybe you installed something in the transmission wrong when you did the output shaft?

Yeah dropping the trans really sucks. Hopefully it's the transfer case.
