I was not offended by what you said. But given the current environment around here you're wise to avoid anything even remotely political or religious. Also, refraining from labeling entire groups of people as this or that can ensure you are not granted an unwanted vacation.

Again....just educating you and looking out for you.

It doesn't matter the manufacturer, when Consumer Reports comes out with their ratings, fans of every manufacturer respond cynically. The Tacoma has earned it's marks - the transmission is basically a disaster, the ride quality is comparatively horrible, and the reliability is not what it once was. Of course there are positives to this truck, such as the resale value, off-road capabilities, and aesthetics. I don't hate the truck but I don't love it, either. But there's no conspiracy here, Consumer Reports is, as usual, giving an honest assessment.

This should be a sticky - 2017 Tacoma gets the highest possible rating in 15 of 17 CR categories.

From the article, I've highlighted and italicized the salient points for those of you too thickheaded to grasp the facts:

In 2017, the second year of this generation, which again, Consumer Reports had predicted the lowest possible reliability, the Tacoma improved. In the 2017 model year, the Tacoma earned the highest possible rating in 15 of the 17 categories. The Body Integrity and Drive System scores moved up to the highest rating. Transmission Minor moved up to the middle rating and In-car electronics moved up to the second-highest possible rating. Across the board, the nearly perfect Tacoma improved in all the areas in which it was not scored at the highest rating. Yet, Consumer Reports still keeps that 1 out of five predicted reliability rating in place for the Tacoma. Oddly, the Consumer Reports predicted reliability rating was a perfect 5/5 for prior model years Tacomas (such as 2015), despite those model years having lower actual scores than the 2017 Tacoma.

Get it? The 2017 Tacoma has higher actual scores than the 2015.

lol. Dumb thickheaded trolls gonna be dumb thickheaded trolls.

I don't know if the mods allow us to explain the history behind this shitty Consumer Reports score. To explain it requires "3rd gen trash talking".

    Short version:
    Engine complaints.
    Transmission complaints.
    Recall on Rear Differential

Bear in mind, Consumer Reports generally bases their reliability scores on surveys from people who subscribe to their magazine. Not necessarily data on warranty repairs, etc.

I wasn't necessarily quoting numbers as an indicator of quality, but rather implying that reports per sale is a better measure than total numbers.

People were just butt hurt over the rear diff recall and some folks had to wait up to a month or longer for their trucks to be fixed. This is my favourite truck I have owned. This is also my third truck.

I like this. I've had some experience with the Ridgeline and it really is a better vehicle than a Tacoma overall. Anyone arguing otherwise isn't being honest (if they've actually driven one).
It is a truck, a very capable truck. In a lot of categories it's much better than the Tacoma. In comparison tests it always beats the Tacoma in the mainstream magazines.

But, as pointed out by hiPSI that's not what makes a product a success. I like the Tacoma more due to a whole bunch of reasons that are hard to quantify in a test and with numbers. Truck segment is especially like this and you can see it in the full size segment as well, where owners are fiercely loyal and have very strong opinions on why they buy certain trucks over others..

Exactly. And if you don't have the passion then you cant be an enthusiast. If you are not an enthusiast then you come here for information, not for the people or the pure enjoyment of the truck.

    Again....

Go and read the article RocTaco linked. I mean, shit...have you ass-clowns crowing about the OPs post even read the 2017 Tacoma CR ratings? If not, then stop embarrassing yourselves any further and read the ratings. Then come back here a write us a report of what you learned.

Aw hell, I'll give you the cliff notes version: 2017 tacos received higher scores than the 2015 tacos. The 2017 received the highest possible CR rating in 15 of 17 overall categories.

Let me repeat that. Despite the over-reacting and general ass-hattery of hand wringers, whiners, chicken littles and an elite cadre of forum trolls, the third gen numbers have achieved the highest possible CR rating in 15 of 17 categories. Resale values remain high..oh and the howling rear diff issue? - ending up just a noise.

Hey kids, what's everyone's definition of someone who doesn't own a Tacoma, but joins a Tacoma forum and ceaselessly argues with it's members?

That person is a troll. A knuckle dragging, shit-stirring, troglodyte troll. Ignore the troll and he'll eventually shuffle, shamble, fart and mumble his way back under his bridge.
