What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Which would be fitting, because it would be a crime to have that on a Tacoma.

 

Are you going to be taking it on a road course or something? I don't get the need for the red ring? And that price tag.

 

So my opinion might be a little different. I use it to tow allot so I ran 4.88s with the 265s. This might sound crazy but acceleration might be a little better with bigger meats but it could just be the fact that these tires are so much smoother.

If you want my opinion on tires I hemmed and hawed over size for along time and went with 265 75r16s originally. I was never really happy with them. They were the wrong tire. these are the right tires

 

Spirited off-road driving. Price is the price and for me is more than worth it. As I've stated before, the vinyl toyota uses on the wheels is garbage

 

The only way I'd replace my steering wheel, is if it had the "Heated steering wheel" option. I'm wondering if another Toyota or Lexus would have one???

I gotcha. Well they look great and I can’t see why I wouldn’t be able to talk myself into 4.88’s one day... it’s just money! Can’t take it with you when you die!

Yeah I was in the same boat considering gears with professional install run about 10 percent the cost of a loaded trd or 4x4. I bit the bullet and glad I did. I like value and can say the 4.88s were money well spent. Arguably the best 3rd gen mod.

 

I agree 100%. When I complete the build that I’m working towards currently, and my money is burning a hole in my pocket, I may look at throwing some this way but only for a heated steering wheel. Unless it’s given to me for free or pretty cheap, this mod will have to wait for awhile. I’m excited to see who all goes this route and the pictures to come. I’m sure for the price that it is pretty amazing to the touch. To each their own. That’s the beauty of customizing our vehicles so they standout and have that special touch. It represents us as owners. A great build, in my opinion, has mods that increase performance and have that personal touch “cosmetic touch” as well. Some say it’s just spending money to spend money, but if you have the money and it’s something important to you then why not? In the end, it’s what makes us each happy when we see or get in our rides that matters.

Couple days ago...
Installed new "shoes"

Took older Toyota Alloy rims and painted them dark metallic grey and then used my 2017 centercaps (shorter than the caps that came with the rims) and installed them.




265/65/17 Duratracs

Yesterday...

Washed the truck,
blew everywhere on it dry with compressed air after a good highway run,
With ACF-50,
sprayed/fogged:
- engine compartment and under hood.
- underbody,
- wheel-wells
- inside doors,
- inside tailgate
Still have to do the pillars and under the carpet though.

Sprayed some Fluid Film into the rear leaf springs,

Today ...
Washed the outside of the truck, and then gave it a rubdown with Miguire's quick wax.


Took picture real quick with the Iphone as I knew it would be dirty again while I went inside and looked for a real camera!


I noticed that the truck seems to ride "smoother" and quieter now with all that added "lubricity" added to the rear leafs and front suspension.

Areas that I "fogged" yesterday with the ACF50 looked pretty much dry but you could notice a light non-sticky film when you rubbed your finger over it. Areas that I sprayed (probably too heavy) like the wheelwell areas and inside all the supports had a wet look to them. But the ACF50 was sticking nicely to the vertical parts of the frame so I was happy. And not dripping! But it's only 8 deg C. Water just beads up on any treated areas.

Truck has 3300Km on it and has been well "salted" since I got it in mid Dec. Only corrosion I've noticed was on any non-painted or machined face parts on the driveline ,the bolts on the top of the shocks and some of the bolts on the exhaust.

So hopefully ACF-50 will keep the truck looking near new for a few more years.
