Did another 250 miles. Aside from the throttle being too touchy for my liking I don’t really have anything to complain about. I haven’t had any more weird stutters. I thought about reflashing and letting it idle to see if I notice any difference but at this point I don’t really see a need to and it’s cold outside.

MPG have been pretty much the same as before. Last fill up was 19.7 mpg over 253 miles which is pretty good considering the weather and winter blend fuels.

The in dash calculations have been all over the place. For a while it was like 2 mpg low then last tank it was about 1 mpg high. I’ve never really trusted it’s accuracy but seems to be off a little more than before.

With the new low end torque everyone is talking about, what is the winter/wet driving like? Granted I just got my 18, and it has 150ish miles on it, winter wet driving is half the year (usually) in northern Utah. The nice throttle response and low end kick of torque, I imagine to be terrifying to drive in the weather.

So not going to sugar coat it, it is a little scary. I live in Utah as well so I have some experience driving pre-tune and post.

I was on the freeway heading to my dads from Sandy to Woodcross. It was snowing as as I got further past SLC, the roads were getting worse. I was in 3rd gear( which is damn amazing at low speeds now) and as traffic was speeding up, I gave it some more throttle and break the end loose with what I considered not much input.

Now, with that being said, the roads were slushy and appeared to be getting icy or were already slightly so. For full disclosure, I was wearing heavy work boots and that could be playing a role in how I feel the pedal etc....

Another note to consider: I have been driving this with stock tune for 20k miles and have been use to the gutless and anemic response of the stock tune. So, being that it is awake now, I most likely am not use to the response and power that is available now.

I found that being able to drive in a higher gear now helped tremendously with that issue, so I used 4th gear at about 30 mph and about 1k rpm's and it was very, very nice in those conditions.

With the upcoming storms on the horizon her this week, I will have plenty of opportunites to test this more and plan on doing so.

Matt said he was going to release a milder tune to help alleviate some of that, but I will stay with 1.03b for some time and get use to driving a truck with power :)

We recently had some ice and snow. I didn’t put a lot of miles on in it but it was far from terrifying with a slightly taller tire than stock (265/70R17).

If the torque has become too terrifying then just try a taller tire.

I successfully downloaded and flash 1.03b 87 octane. Now I'm going to flash the 91 octane and get an error message that the file is either corrupted or in the wrong format. Anyone else with this issue?

Check the file size. Should be around 1,536KB. If you downloaded the 1.03B tune recently, it might be invalid cause it's not available for download with the new flash manager.

It’s a bit sketchy currently. When first flashing it’s a pretty huge change and takes a while to adjust your driving habits. The throttle sensitivity was also adjusted which ovt has said he can easily tone down if we desire. I think a slight tweak there and it’ll be just fine. I’ve got enough miles on it now I’ve mostly adjusted to it but it’s still a bit touchy for my liking, at least for winter driving. No complaints about the extra power though.

Ok. So after a few days with the 1.03b tune still liking the over all performance. However, I have noticed the stutter at 2500. It is quite noticeable. Today I reflashed to stock, shut the truck off, then reflashed the 1.03b tune. After that I let it idle for 15 minutes and then held revs at 500 rpm intervals to try and allow then computer to learn the idle and changes. After that I took it out for a spin. I am still noticing the stutter. Should I have run the vehicle on the stock tune for a bit before reflashing? Any inputs to get rid of the stutter?

The only thing I did differently (besides reloading the god awful stock tune - NOPE) was to do the idle learning from cold.

Try re-doing the idle learning on 1.03B from stone cold up to operating temp without re-flashing (took close to 20 min). That worked for me the first time I tried it.

Edit: In Mat's words, don't touch anything during the idle learning...
