It's very sturdy. I built a rack for my old cap out of it.

These nuts usually have a spring on them and slide in the strut.

I removed the spring to use in my bed rails. If you cut them on the lines they fit in the notches on the bed rails and can't move for and aft.

If you get some check each bag for size bolt and number in bag. They always get mixed up.

Thanks. Great idea. I’ll check HD today.

Or I might just get another set of the same aluminum rails for this. They have the nice adjustable tie downs that I can use on the roof top and now possibly down below.

Same rails on top and bottom? I like that.

The uni strut may not work well if your cap has any arch to it.

You should defiantly play with some of those nuts though, I prefer the big ones myself.

I was gonna do the same inside my cap, but i decided to play with my nuts elsewhere.

Hey guys, where should I drill the mounting holes for the rails that I just bought?

The Snugtop has a honeycomb reinforced roof.

Should I drill holes through the honeycomb? or through the non-reinforced section of the roof?

I think I would do the honey comb. Watch out for bees.

Call snugtop and see what they recommend.

Maybe you shouldn't go through the hive.

This looks like it’s NOT on the honeycomb reinforcement.

    Work truck.

The more I think about it the less I like going through the honeycomb.

Ok. I’m going to drill through the non-reinforced area of the roof.

I ordered a matching set of rails for the ceiling and a bunch of tie down nuts.

Load distribution should be extremely good. Also will have a lot of ceiling cargo control with the tie downs.

Now thinking about using Prinsu-type 47” or 51” x 1” x 2” aluminum extrusion crossbars. It should give a lot of options for bike rack, snowboard and cargo. But gotta figure out how to attach to the rack rails. Maybe simple bolt-through crossbar to the rails to keep the lowest possible profile.

That would be nice. Lowes has some nice 1/8 in thick rubber washers in the drawers in the hardware section. I like them for metal to metal contact situations like that.

Home Depots selection isn't as good.

You can order those extrusions in whatever length you want and already painted black or not. I am going with 49" that seems to be right at the width of the roof of our trucks and the caps.

How are you attaching the crossbar extrusion to the rails?

I am going to do something similar to what prinsu has done making a small standoff to match my prinsu rack height on the front. Which I am going to change that one out as well for one of a new design I am not that impressed with the prinsu.

What are you gonna do with your prinsu? Is it the cap or cab one?
