If Laila isn’t suffering, my wife mentioned that there are rear leg wheelchairs that have a harness for their rear hindquarters, allowing them some mobility. They are on eBay for around $150 or so.
...Just another thing to think about

I'm sorry to hear that. I have recently gone both ways so I can sympathize.

15 year old German Shepard mix. Had a seizure, lost weight fast then had trouble walking. I had to put my best buddy down.
It sucked having to do that but it was time. I felt better as I was there with him to say goodbye.

8 year old Cocker Spaniel. Had an inflamed uterus. Had surgery about 2 months ago to remove it and is now doing fine.
It cost about $1k total but it will give her a few more years and my wife would lose it if we lost two dogs in one month.

We now have a 4 month old Golden Retriever that is a joy to have.

I am sorry to hear about this. I have owned boxers over the last 30 years. My first 2 went through this same thing once they got around 12. Sadly, once this starts and the muscles start to shrink, their quality of life goes down. You will have some big descisions to make. I am sorry about this, good luck to you and your pooch. Any questions feel free to pm me, I have been through about everything a boxer can experience over my time with them.

Thats what I sort of think also, but this came on so quick it doesn't fit with the timeline people give for that condition.

Thought about this also but that leaves her immobile whenever I'm gone, so about 11 hours per day. I don't think it's fair to leave her half the day immobile unable to relieve herself in a dignified manner, or even change to a more comfortable position.

Took her to a family BDay BBQ today. She was happy on the grass watching the afternoon unfold.

Yeah, her quality of life is a very important consideration. We have to do what’s right for our fur children. Sometimes difficult facts have to be faced. Hang in there. Keep us updated. Bless you both.

    Truck stuff
We've been getting a lot of rain so I've been limiting the freedom the pup has in the yard. Put him out back and ran out front to the truck, left him alone for <5 minutes and he decided he wanted to find a way to be out front with me. He seems to really like digging and its even easier in muddy/water soaked grass. Guess its time for a bath...

They are absolutely amazing! The difference is incredible. It's been nearly a year since i used them and my boy still holds every command.

They have like a thousand before and after training videos on YouTube. Check them out.

Yes doing it for sport. Instead of the search and rescue I'd look into tracking training schools near you. I'm doing agility and nose work at a place that's very close. I'll be there every lesson..

I wanted to do tracking school... But it's nearly 2 hours away... Once a week... And for this particular entire program it's 16 weeks....

Thats a lot of driving! But i would be there for every lesson as well. It's not a "you use my dog and then give it back" kind of deal... I'd never do that personally.

I do these training programs because i personally love working with my dogs! It's a hobby of mine. And the way you bond during training is amazing.

My newest addition is growing quick. Not quite 4 weeks old yet. I get to visit once a week and get pictures every couple days.

The wife is naming this guy Lycan. She loves those underworld vampire/werewolf movies.

    Male Cane Corso Italian mastiff.

6/22/2010 ~ 2/25/2018. Godspeed my beautiful wiggle butt. You were absolutely, without a doubt, the best 7 years 8 months of my life. She crossed over in her own den, laying on her own blanket, head on the pillow she's had since she was 1, 8 loving souls all giving her love, and her 7 year old sister from another mother black lab, who tried her best to stop the tech from doing her job. These pics are from this morning, I spent every second of the day touching her.

Sorry to you and all who love her. Always an awful experience, but one we're bound to repeat again and again, because all the days that lead up to this one very hard day are so filled with love and joy.
