Turned a corner in the parking lot today from a standstill and squeeled the tires all the way round.... it got me some looks haha.

1st gear is touchy and takes getting used to!

@OVTune, are you still working on an exhaust & air intake pipe for the 3rd gens?

Not Matt, but I'm certain he is. He has already teased pics of the exhaust.

I love the responsiveness of 1.03, throttle is a bit aggressive though. This truck will be a handful in snow and icy roads with 1.03.

Looking forward to @OVTune toned down throttle version of 1.03. I think someone dubbed it 1.03 GRANNY :anonymous:

Toned down version? I thought he was working on a more fun version for folks who don't care about MPGs. I'm looking forward to that one!

In the MT thread we brought up to him a request for a "toned down" map, with the throttle responsiveness toned back a tad bit. Has nothing to do with mpg. I personally don't care about my mileage, but the throttle response IS a hairtrigger and after driving it for over a week, I'm ready to have it dialed back a smidge. Idk if it's due to the same thing, but coming on and off the clutch makes it kinda jerky too. As for a non-mpg caring tune, we were briefly talking to him about something with full-otto and he said maybe, if there's enough demand. His next target/project is boost/twin turbo

Yes, it is fairly jerky when I get off the throttle if I am not paying attention and ease off the throttle.

I did experience a slight surge in second gear at about 1500k rpm's while exiting a parking lot at a roll, but I think that is more because of the Atkinson/otto cycle and or my driving style rather then the tune. I will keep an eye on my driving style and try to see if I cause it based on bad use of clutch/gear selection etc...

Correct, he did mention a more aggressive version for the AT’s without concern for MPGs.

When I say toned down, its strickly from throttle mapping perspective.

So with 1.03 I know there are differences in the S gears between normal(full lock) and ECT. Which one is fastest or more powerful off the line? Just curious

    a misunderstanding.
this is correct. for some of us it has been tough on icy wet roads. keep in mind different trucks have different setups, so some have a very hard time with grip, and modulating the throttle well requires a smooth power response as the tune reads from the throttle position.

nobody is wanting a "toned down" version of the motor's tune. this is only about throttle position. no change to the motor's tune. just whether the first inch or so of throttle position gets it scaled up nice and smooth, less aggressive in the first little bit of throttle, whatever Mat thinks.

Sounds like fun version for ATs and boring version for MTs in the pipeline? :D

No difference for 16 or 17 if you have 04B02 ECU. Mine was 17 with 04B02 ECU and flashed fine. OVTune mentioned this as well which probably got buried quickly in the thread.

Just drove 200+ miles over three mountain passes in a damn blizzard. The weird behaviors I mentioned before are gone. Once I got used to the throttle response, the tune made the drive seem effortless. Unexpected side effect ... S mode now seems to have a good amount of engine braking, which made 50+ miles of going downhill in mostly unplowed conditions a hell of a lot easier.

    1.03 is awesome.

So what is the consensus on the MPG for the 4x4 guys running at 65-75 MPH? I was getting 14 with CC on at 75. I'd love to get to say 16-18 MPH with mine. I really hate the range issue I'm having on road trips.
