What's a relatively cheap chassis that I could do this with? Body is 1/10. Just for fun, no racing. I think I'd be OK with 2wd, unless it makes it hard to control on the pavement.

There's a lot of different cars for sale on the FB groups from time to time, so I just want to know what to look for. If I see a deal on a used chassis, maybe I'll jump on it. More time and effort will go into the scale details making the pop up headlights work and stuff, moreso than the performance.

Also, I'd be looking for brushless (not brushed) motors/electronics for a road car, right?

For brushed vs brushless, it really depends on the speed you are looking for. A brushed setup may top out around 35mph on 2s, which is plenty fast.

With brushless you can be in the 60-70mph on 3s.

On the chassis, all youre really looking for is 1/10 scale and 200mm width, wheel base is pretty much the same on 1/10 touring cars but range from 190-210mm width.

A car i forgot about is the tamiya TT-02, youll need to assemble it though. You can find them at hobby town for right around 100 bucks.

I saw someone else did a TT01 MK4 Supra build, but looks like Tamiya has since released a TT02? I think the ground up assembly would be fun, regardless of how long it took. Seems like 35mph would be fine, since I would just bring it out at car meets when I drive the Supra.

If you get the TT-02, i have a brand new brushed motor from my XV-01 build, just need a 30-50 dollar esc. I also have an extra servo that may still be good laying around. Also have a nice Sanwa MX-V radio laying around.

The build takes about 8-12 hours, Tamiya instructions are great. Make sure you have a good x-acto, will need to cut every part off a parts tree. The kit will come with all the fluids and greases you need so no worries there.

Cool, good to know what to look for. I need to get the body sometime soon, while it's still available. Once I have that I'll get more serious about what goes underneath it.

DAMMIT! There's like only 4 of these A70 bodies left in the world. The body is only about $35, but everyone wants another $30 for shipping.

    Edit: only 3 left, now:anonymous:

That just means I really have to take my time getting the body just right. Can't afford to screw up and need another body.
