IIRC Press the odometer reset button and while holding it down turn the ignition key to on but don’t start the truck. Watch the odometer count down from 5 bars to none. Release the button and turn the key off. You’re done for another 5k.

Hold down before putting the key in ignition then turn short of starting it? What should be the display before I start the whole process? Trip A,B, or odometer?

6inch lift sitting on bilstein coilovers. Lexus is300 studs in front to keep stock wheels, general grabber red letters, nfab front bumper.
It's either trip a or odometer.
    Turn key to completely off.
    Hold down odometer reset
    Turn key to run position
Hash marks should flash down and turn the light off

I don’t think it matters. I know I’ve never paid any attention to what the odometer is monitoring when reseting the maint light. It’s not like your gonna kill your truck.

Early 2011 with the red gauge face and older uses the Odometer Display to reset the Maintenance Light.

Late 2011 with the white gauge face and newer use the Trip Meter A to reset the Maintenance Light.

Anyone notice shift pattern changes after resetting maintence light?
Does it reset ecu/tcm parameters to “break in” the new oil?

Almost time for your oil change. It comes on every 5k miles. How to switch light off after servicing can be found in your owners manual.

It means service is due soon. It is a preset factory reminder you can reset yourself.

Like the others said, you need to change your oil. There’s info on here and all over the internet on how to reset. Search is your friend...

You don't have to change your oil, unless you're doing 5k changes

    It's merely a 'clock' that's telling you

    a) when flashing at start, you are within 500 miles of hitting 5,000 miles since the last reset of the maintenance light

    b) when it stays on steady after start, you are 5,000 miles or over since the last reset of the maintenance light

This info and how to reset the light are in your owners manual.

Keep in mind that the light is not 'smart'. All it knows is mileage since reset. It knows nothing about any system, if the oil was changed or not, if your tires need rotation, etc.

    So.

Your vehicle is currently in a) status. If you are doing 5k changes, it's time. If you are doing 10k changes, you reset it and wait for it to light up again.

In the long long ago, people use to remember to maintain their machinery without a reminder light...

It’s just dealers trying to get you to spend money in their service department. 5k per oil change is overkill. Easily go 7-10k between oil changes. Just reset the light and keep going.
