Mat will probably offer a toned down version in addition to the files already released, or maybe a test file. Anyway, I'm waiting till I have a lot more miles on 1.03B 91 before passing judgement on the throttle, as we have seen changes take place over time with past tunes.

I thought the 103b tunes was only for the 18 trucks? The 18's have a different ecu. If we are calling all the new tunes 103b wouldn't it be easy for them to get mixed up?

I'm going to assume Mat will eventually add buttons and therefore access to files for the '18 M/T tune in flash manager, since all other ECU versions have a button. We're all on 1.03B BTW, from 04B10 weirdos all the way up to you guys.

Ok... read 10 pages in.... just skipped to the end.

I have a few ?? Apologies for not reading the whole thread and asking newb questions.

Soooo I have a few ?? before plopping down the coin...

    I think there's an 87 octane and a 91 octane tune....
I'm a cheap bastard ... is it worth the diff to go with the 91 tune?

Has anyone been to the stealership with tune installed to get service?
or is it recommended to go back to stock b-4 service or just stop going to the
dealer?... I'm right at 30K so no benefit to go to dealer other than the fancy pants oil they use. Which I like!

All I need is a laptop with Windows .... everything else included??

What else... Oh is there a group buy for this mod? .... asking for a friend.

Has the ban on the use of the word "troll" been lifted for 2018?

    That's it... cheers

You would get both tunes for one price and any future updates to the tune

    1. Correct, 87 and 91 tunes available and you get both with the price of admission (plus updates are free). Is it worth it to run 91- it is to me, but it may not be to you. I've run both, and on my truck the 91 tune is definitely more responsive/powerful.

    2. I've been there a couple of times but not for anything that involves the stealership messing with the ECU. I did not flash back to stock, but could have in 5 minutes. Others on here have as well, and can add their I/P. Mat claims they can't tell with their scan tools that we are running a tune.

    3. Yep, you'll get the USB dongle (security) and OBD cable/interface with the kit.

    4. Mat has sales on the go periodically, maybe there will be one for St. Paddy's day - who knows lol

HA, don't know. Let's see TROLLOLLTROLLLOLLLTROLLLORLLLTROLLL

Mat has said that he's said multiple techs try to detect it and that they can't. Furthermore, the tune is flashed with toyota flash protocol he's said.

Just to get this straight when you say idle learning what exactly are we talking about. Basically I loaded the tune, unplugged CPU, turned truck on, let idle for 15 minutes. Is that what you mean?

I would say ignore everyone saying it's terrifying, sketchy, jumpy, etc. It is none of the above, these people just need to learn some control over their right foot and/or tone down the sensationalism. Of course you can break the tires loose on snow/ice if you thump the throttle but it doesn't just happen on its own. Yes with 1.03B it is finally starting to feel like the gas pedal is actually connected to something but this is still not a particularly torquey or fast revving engine. It is still much less powerful than a majority of other things on the road these days and the throttle response is by no stretch of the imagination an on/off switch.

Exactly this, are there really that many people out there who have never driven anything with any sort of actual power? You can spin the tires on literally anything in slippery conditions, that doesn't mean the throttle is too sensitive, just keep your foot out of it. I really hope Matt doesn't take these complaints too seriously. If there are some who want to go back to the numb, unresponsive feeling Toyota gave us that's fine if that's what you're more comfortable with and maybe have a separate granny version but I would hate to see the tune as a whole get dumbed back down now that we're finally starting to get a little bit of the responsiveness that we all wanted from this tune to begin with.

I am unsure why some people are having issues downloading the MT tunes from the flash manager so I will have a rebuild version of the flash manager available tomorrow (will be in the first post)

Yes. When I did that on my truck, I started the whole process with a cold engine too.

To be clear, Mat said 10 minutes of idle time without touching anything. I ran mine longer because I wanted to warm it up completely, and also to "ensure" the procedure worked - my stutters were quite bad, I mean it felt like you were putting your foot in it and lifting very quickly under certain conditions.

BTW, the term "idle learning" is not a thing. It's just a phrase I used to describe the process.

If you have mild, barely noticeable hesitations/surging this may not work for you.

About to try it now. Mine is quite noticeable, just as you describe. At about 2500 consistently in every gear it is like I an letting on and off the gas very quickly. I will let you know how the reattempt goes.

Well, you have to realize that not everyone likes the throttle the way it is now (for the record, I DO like it).

Telling people to ignore opinions based on actual feedback and maybe borderline calling them out as what.. pussies for not being able to use a gas pedal is not cool.

Nobody is suggesting that Mat change 1.03B to a granny version - the most I've seen is "cut it back a hair", and on top of that it was suggested that a dialed back version be released IN ADDITION to the current 1.03B files.

Relax man, besides you can also keep the file you have loaded now, right?

    Cheers :)

Remember don't touch anything lol.. I had my HVAC controls turned off so the AC wouldn't pop on (defrost).

Yea no one is complaining about the power. I think if the throttle was like 90% of what it is now it'd probably be perfect (i'm just throwing out a number, it doesn't need much). I've got enough miles on it now that I'm somewhat adjusted to it, but I still feel like it is just a bit too much when you get off the pavement. I guess some of us drive a little more casually. Sure I can manipulate the pedal but why only use 5% of the travel?

As time goes on, I'm sure they'll probably be more flavors of the tune as everyone is different and expects something different from their truck. having a couple different options for throttle response would be a pretty easy one.
