If i remember correctly they say no 886's on the 5100's because the coil is so strong it can like blow the strut apart. Why not get old man emu nitrochargers for the front and put 886's on those? How many miles on the billys anyways?

It won't blow the strut apart. The 5100s just aren't valved for such a heavy coil. There are plenty of people running 886 coils on 5100s who report zero problems. Billstein suggests not doing this though. As stated, the OME Nitrocharger shock IS made for use with those coils.

If shocks have springs too stiff for their valving, wouldn’t that be ok? If the springs were too soft for the valving, I could see the issue, they’d be moving faster than intended, and blow seals.

Shocks usually dampen in both directions, so a too heavy spring could damage the valving that dampen extension of the shock.

Good point, moving too fast in the other direction. Disregard my last post!

Don't you need extended mounting bolts with a 1 inch spacer?

Also, I have 5100s on stock coils set on the second notch, which is .85. Levelled me out nicely but now my taco lean is more noticeable...I need to get the 1\4" spacer now for the driver side.

I believe so but I'm honestly not for sure I'm almost positive the spacer I ordered came with, it was only around 30 dollars and has a lifetime warranty for the spacer

5100's don't have enough rebound dampening (because valving) for 886's. Your front end will jackhammer the truck.

To adjust the lift setting, coil has to be removed. That requires assembled shock/coil to be removed from the truck. I live dangerously at times by some peoples standards....That said, Not in a million years would I attempt to adjust the shock with spring compressor holding coil in compression.

That's why the 1 inch spacer will be here Friday lol, avoid preload on the shock and gain an extra inch:thumbsup: after that my setup will be 3 leaf AAL 2 inch coils and 5100 all around so I guess that's still much better than the crappy RC spacer lift I had:rolleyes:

How about just adding a top plate spacer?

You'll still need to disassemble the assembly completely to change those studs out

I was under the impression that adding a 1 inch spacer did not require taking the tophat off or compressing the spring etc. Don’t you just bolt it on top of the coilover assembly and the spacer has it’s own studs? I haven’t ever put a spacer lift on so someone please educate me. Is the picture below similar to what the OP is adding to his coilovers?

Yes that is almost exactly what I am getting, and I can see your point it looks as if it just bolts directly on to the top strut assembly
