Sometimes I forget. How bad is that for my truck? If I drive 100 miles towing 3500lbs without it in tow mode?

 

I don't doubt it, this truck makes strange noises for sure. It was warm the other day and for the first time I was driving around with the rear power slider open and was like, "damn! this thing sounds weird!"

I'm not sure and you'll get varying information online about cylinder deactivation. Towing, it should sense that the engine is under load and not even try to deactivate cylinders. I can't imagine it's 'bad' for the engine but the system as a whole doesn't seem great. When my dad's Tahoe grenaded, he called a mechanic and he asked him, "let me guess, Chevy 5.3 with over 100k miles?" Apparently, when the cylinder deactivation fails, it's ugly. I don't know all the ins and outs of how it works, but it's buried deep in the engine and costs thousands to repair if/when it goes. Sounds like it's not terribly uncommon after the engines hit 100k miles. My dad's was at 150k and did a lot of highway driving.

Who wants to chop fenders on a T4R with me? I don't know exactly when, yet, but I've got a buddy who's considering putting a CBI rear bumper on his and I told him I'd help with the install. He's a great guy but if he knows the difference between a drill and an impact wrench, I'd be surprised. I'm hoping that my Brute Force bumper will be here in time and I can put it on the same day.

When is still TBD. I'm not expecting my bumper to be ready before the end of April or beginning of May, meanwhile my buddy was just asking about finding someone to help him with his the other day, I'm not sure he's going to be ready much before then either.
Where will be my place in Oxford, Not too far outside the 495 belt, you take 290 west out of Worcester where it becomes 395 south once you cross the Mass Pike. If you're coming from Somerville, it's probably an hour +/- without traffic.

Edit: In the "Snow and long commutes" almost right where the 'r' in Worcester is.
