No, optima blue battery. Those are their marine ones, and are deep cycle.

gotcha. I am starting to read up on battery/ dual battery etc. Honestly want nothing to do with the dual battery set up rn. I don't think I will ever be remote enough to justify having a fully re-chargeable battery. I would like a honda 2000 ultra quiet generator though. I saw one run for 12 hours no joke when we were tailgating all day out at that xmas tree farm. Super small and could barely hear it running. But back to the battery thing. I cannot even remember why guys have dual battery set ups.

Oh and did you have to order the battery cage as an add on because it did not fit in the OEM one?

That’s honestly my thoughts as well, but I still wanted something that could handle my needs I.e. winching (that draws A LOT of power) and the eventual fridge. I put a group 31 in there which is a big fucking battery and is plenty for my needs.

Yeah, exactly. The optima was a bit too big to use factory battery holder.

We use those Honda generators at work. I dont know the size of them or of that 2000 you mention, but ours work very well. They get beat TF up and still work beautifully.

It’s pelfrey, since I’m not sure of anyone else who makes one. It was on sale and was $100 or so, and the battery was $350.

    I have two:
    AF1383F0-681C-4E5C-902B-FFF722FE5C6B.jpg FE4EFE14-38E3-44B5-AF5E-350A09C5C0A2.jpg

With 5 gallon auxiliary tanks for each. Connected with a parallel cable for 4000 total watts.

Hard-wired to house (edit:via a manual Transfer Switch) to prevent backfeed. The two gens provide power to: Two fridge/freezers, microwave, electronics of gas furnace and stove, WiFi, TV, garage doors, a few lights AND most important, the coffee machine.

Provides inverter power that’s clean and stable for sensitive electronics

In its own outdoor enclosure and you can barely hear a thing. One or two pull start.

Uses about 1 gal per 10 hours, even less when parallel connected and on automatic throttle control that adjusts based on electrical load. With the auxiliary tanks, I can run a full week on low duty cycle. At 100% duty, 24hrs/day it will easily go three days.

Hard wired to the house? How does that prevent backfeed? Are you using a transfer switch?

You should be ok at the malls. :p

I go solo a lot and I’m planning a epic solo remote overlanding trip, so the dual battery is a must. Might even go with solar power in the future.

Can run fridge all day/night without engine running and depleting starting battery. Same with 12v fan in summer and 12v heated blanket in winter.

Can run winch in case I can’t run the engine. The Optima Yellow Top should be able to handle several hard pulls before full discharge.

    Same with ARB twin compressor.

Can jump start the starting battery if needed.

    Yup to transfer switch.

I use the term hard wired vs those peeps that use extension cords to feed generator power to their house equipment.

This that and the other thing.
Got 2 hours to kill until my next customer is home. I might go home and do my oil change instead of sitting in their driveway like I am right now lol

Sitting in their driveway for 2 hrs sounds suspicious or stalkerish :anonymous:
