I can't seem to hang onto Les Pauls. I've been through 3 Gibsons and an Epiphone so far of various configurations. I just sold my 2018 Classic P-90. The P-90s sounded like humbuckers, which I have plenty of already, and it weighed 10.8 lbs.

    Yawn...
I have a Custom line LP, and I don’t see how it’s worth over $4k. I just have it because of how iconic the guitar is and it’s a childhood dream guitar.

Those new 2018 models are just a perfect example of a company being out of touch with it’s end users.

IMO the entire guitar industry is in trouble. Gibson is just the canary in the coal mine.

I have a P90 equipped Gibson Les Paul Tribute Gold Top I paid $700 for seven years ago. A Gibby Gold Top was my dream guitar and it was the most I've ever paid for a guitar. I've played it the least of all my guitars. I can't bond with the neck. I had it setup. Tried different strings. Upgraded parts. It's been the same with both Gibsons I've owned. No matter what I threw at them, they were dark, heavy, and never found their voice in my lineup. I've always been pleased with my Epiphones. I've had Rivieras, Casinos, Dots, 00 Acoustics, Crestwoods, SG Korina, Explorer Korina, LP standards, all fantastic guitars; especially when considering price paid. I've been wavering on selling my Gold Top for a couple fo years but it looks so good hanging on the wall :/

That's what I did with the SG in my avatar. I bought the body from The Stratosphere and built it myself.

There is a ton of truth to that statement. I think acoustics are fairing better than electrics with the small revival of folk-pop, but as a whole - the musical instrument industry is heading towards a slow and steady death. Most of the top radio hits are being created through digital means. How many current songs on the local top 40 music stations have guitar solos as their main centerpiece?

This is a pretty large generalization because there are still great songs being created with guitar solos, but *most* music is being made with a vocalist and someone behind a computer creating a beat.

I wish I'd kept my Korean Epiphone Les Paul. It was in really nice condition for being 20 years old and I didn't have too much $ into it. I got rid of it when I got a "real" Les Paul and then promptly got rid of the Gibson. The pickups were pretty dark on the Epi until I switched out the pots from 500K to 1000K. That brightened it right up.

Damn. Half tempted to make an offer on this GX.
Never owned a LP style guitar.
I played this same guitar when I was at Sweetwater a few weeks back. It was a demo. Still for sale on their webpage for $719 I think.
    What do you guys think?

Lol. Idk....i think they mean the poker chip thing or whatever.
I've been itching to get an epi LP for a long time just cause I never had one. I didn't want to take a chance on a cheap one but the few I tested at Sweetwater felt pretty decent in my hands.
Not sure how it will fit in my collection but if I don't like it, I suppose I could always sell it.

The pickguard might have to go as well.
