Yes, acid in the smoke. The fire started in the garage which was full of small electric appliances that my wife bought and never used, tracker mower, snowblower, propane bottles and other goodies. When the fire was out her appliances were more like a puddle black nasty goo. The flames were confined to the garage and laundry room but the smoke destroyed everything in the house that was exposed to air. My full size washer and dryer were about 2' tall after the fire. All that plastic burning is toxic and the smoke contains acid. Every piece of ferrous metal in the house rusted within a couple of days. The shafts in the helicopters and screws rusted so I need to replace the shafts, screws and most likely any bearing that was exposed. I'm sure they are strong enough but the swash plate on the main wouldn't last long moving up and down on a rusted shaft spinning at appox. 2000 rpm. Same with the tail rotor shaft which spins 5-6 times? (I forget the ratio) as fast. Feathering shafts and bearings should be fine. It doesn't take much for things to start melting from friction on the shafts. I had a shaft shimmed .2 mm too tight one time on my 550E and the bearing ceased to the shaft in less than 5 minutes.

this is why i gave up on flying RC planes/gliders. I can handle X and Y axis, it's the Z axis that throws me and the end result is similar to what you have here

Nobody was hurt but since there wasn't any smoke detector in the garage, I did know until a little bit of smoke started drifting across the family room. I open the door in the laundry room to the garage and it was just a wall of flames. I used one extinguisher from inside the house but it wasn't enough. The smoke alarms went off when the smoke hit the first detector and we were out. My next door neighbor saw the smoke, we busted open the bottom of the garage and emptied one of his extinguishers into the garage from that side but it didn't help. Here are some before and after pictures. I included the quad I got after the fire. The entire house had to be stripped down to the studs and sheathing, treated, sealed, rewired, sheet rock, fixtures etc..
