Fox Life!!! Anything Related to Fox Suspension

I wanted to start a thread for all of us that have pulled the triggers on Fox's. When researching Tacoma World there really wasn't one thread specific to the Fox's. I'd like this thread to be full of information and personal experiences for those of us that have joined the Fox suspension team. I had the Toytec 3" inch spacer kit and it was horrible. Coming from a motorcross and mtn bike background I've always knew Fox made great shocks. After much research and talking to a lot of my Tacoma World friends and Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road I pulled the trigger the Fox Level 2 Kit with the 2.5 Extended Factory Coilovers for the front & 2.0 Performance Rear Shock. @ahspurlock the famous South Carolina lift master installed everything yesterday at the SC Mod Day and I cannot over state how pumped I am that I went with this set up. Kept everything as is out of the boxes and my Tacoma now rides and handles like a dream. Here are some pics of my Taco with her new Fox's installed.

I've lived in Goose Creek for like 11 years and just moved to Summerville. The Fox's are awesome on the road and highways.
Haven't had the chance to off road them cause I need to do a CMC modification before I hit the trails.

I bought the truck from the dealer with a 3" Toytec Spacer Kit with a AAL. So the rear does have a Toytec AAL.

Let me bug you with one more question. I know you still need to cut but have you gone over any bad potholes or washboard roads? Dorchester county doesn't do a great job with repaving their roads.

 

In my experience all pot holes at speed are going to feel harsh. I actually hit one today on I-26. I’ve speed thru a set of 3 railroad tracks by the Paper Mill and was happy with the ride over them. You are more than welcome to check out my set up before you order your suspension.

 

Technically I’m part of the Fox life, but unfortunately they are still sitting in my garage. I bought used front 2.5 with DSC and rear 2.0 with CD adjusters. The rears need a rebuild before install. Hoping to have everything pieced together before this spring so I can do it all at once. I already have Camburg UCAs installed. Dakar’s waiting and need to pick up an @ARCHIVE u bolt flip with superbumps. Should make for a really good ride compared to my 5100/885s and AAL rear.

 

Here's my contribution to this Fox thread:
Fox 2.5 extended travel come w/13" 600 lb. coils. They're set by Fox @ 27 exposed threads, which is 1.925" of exposed threads, which equates to 3" lift stock (w/out heavy bumpers, skids, etc.).
This (1.925" of exposed threads) is the max Fox recommends on their 2.5 ext. travel C/O's.
It took me a lot of work to figure this out so hopefully it'll help someone else not have to do all the research!

 

The Dakars I got from HS came w/new u-bolts. They don't stick down very far @ all. I was going to do the flip & the superbumps but I decided it'd be a waste of money. The "more clearance" from the flip kit would only be ~1" & that's only where the kit bolts up. I have a buddy who's wheeled his Taco pretty hard. His u-bolts are ~2" longer than mine & when we checked them the other day, they have never been scraped so I don't see it as a decent way to spend money & I'm ALL about the most clearance & flex.
W/the rear Fox 2.0's the stock bumpstops bottom out perfectly from my measurements. I don't jump my rig so superbumps would be a waste of money as well. These 2 items would've cost me ~$150 that I just used towards a Softopper, so I'm happy about that!
YMMV & I recommend to everyone to measure your specific rig to know proper bumpstop lengths as they may vary.

Would be much cheaper to just buy u bolts. Mine wasn’t a kit so it was just the leaf pack and I bought bushings separately. I’ve heard that with Dakar’s double overloads that it’s hard to really bottom out the stock bumps anyways.

Front: Fox 2.5 dsc, dirt king UCA's, superbumps.
Rear: 2.0 adj, dakars, superbumps, u bolt flip.

The ride is good on road, corners well, not bouncy but firm. Off road it's fucking awesome. At speed, the truck floats over chop, hits whoops butter smooth and returns to neutral immediately. Have plenty of droop too. Very pleased with the fox's.
